    Tx court says Bible can be used in teaching Reading. First comes CAN, later it will be must. They plan to use taxpayer money to reward school districts that do this.

    When i had kids in the house I didn’t much care what they read as long as they did read. I wouldn’t have huge problems with this for my kids but i can see it introducing a can of worms. Will children of other faiths be able to opt out? What material would they use? What are teachers supposed to do? Not needed imo

    The Texas State Board of Education on Friday approved a controversial, Bible-infused curriculum for public school students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

    Texas schools will not be required to use "BlueBonnet" curriculum, which includes lessons from the books of Genesis and Psalms, as well as the New Testament, but will receive extra funding if they do.

    I dunno much about anything anymore. I learned to read from Dick and Jane books and they were at least written in commonly used English of the day. Will TX kids now be recognizable because they are using thee and thou?

    Even as a small child I never believed hell was real. It just didn't seem like something that a god who "is love" would do to his creations.

    My thoughts are it would have to be the Modern English Version which is at least our current English.

    But if they do this, they have to allow opt outs.

    Should elementary kids be in the position of opting out what the rest of the class is doing? "You three, sit over there and I'll give you something else."
    Just what every seven-year-old needs.
