Even conceding that both Tesla and SpaceX are excellent companies neither should be free from oversight. SpaceX and several other Musk companies have contracts with the government totaling over $15 billion. By virtue of that sum alone they shouldn't be exempt from oversight. Tesla is being investigated by the NHTSA following fatal accidents resulting from its autonomous driving system. It's also being investigated by SEC and NLRB. Once Trump takes office all of those investigations will disappear. SpaceX is currently being investigated by FAA.
Musk has long history of squabbles, investigations with federal agencies

    Elon Musk brilliance on display…

Problem: Half the country is culturally against electric cars for some reason.

Solution: Tweet crazy ass right wing shit, win right wing support, and then bathe in their support for my technology.

    … brilliant.

I agree, that all of Musk's companies should receive extra scrutiny for any government contract they receive. If they are the most cost effective, then they get the contract.

Elon is using his connection with djt to threaten the Brazilian president, the EU, and now British MP's for daring to question misinformation on twitter. It appears he is trying to wield the authority of the US government to threaten those who would challenge him and his campaign of disinformation.

Is MAGA okay with this? Is the Senate okay with this? really

Does Elon Musk now speak for the US gubmnt?

Elon Musk hits back at MPs' threats to 'summon' him to UK after warning 'Britain is going full Stalin'

Elon Musk has hit back at MPs' threats to summon him to Britain to probe him in his social media platform X's role in so-called "disinformation" during the summer riots.

A fresh Commons inquiry into the rise of "harmful" AI content online is seeking to pin down tech heavyweights as it investigates the "spread of content that can mislead and harm".

As part of that, Labour's select committee chairwoman Chi Onwurah MP has called on the Tesla and SpaceX owner to explain his alleged "promotion of pure disinformation".

But Musk has hit back in kind, warning MPs that "they will be summoned to the United States of America to explain their censorship and threats to American citizens."

Do you really need to ask this? If someone in particular approves, they are literally fine with anything.

But who am I thinking of...... some criminal that wears makeup and used to have a crummy reality show on TV.....an admitted and adjudicated sexual predator.....who is this certain someone?

Well anyways, there is one litmus test now for, well, everything. Does Daddy like?

I don't think that situation will last much longer than six months. Trump's Narcissistic Personality Disorder is such that he cannot stand to share the limelight with anyone else and that includes Elon Musk. Trump is also really transactional. If Musk's cost cutting proposals would harm Trump's core constituency of working class white voters Trump would ditch Elon before actually implementing them through executive order or proposing them to Congress.

if djt can play good MAGA to Musk dark MAGA< djt may just tolerate it. as long as it makes him look good and he can blame the other guy for the bad parts.

here is his plan to cut the fed labor force and relocate agencies to areas MAGA centric to be staffed by MAGA centric population in legal jurisdictions friendly to MAGA..

I'm sure that whoever gets confirmed as AG will agree with this position and by the time it gets through the courts djt won't even be in office anymore.

    this just keeps getting worse.

Elon Musk predicts a wave of resignations if federal employees are forced to go to the office

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the heads of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which for now only exists in the virtual world, plan to slash federal regulations and carry out mass layoffs of civil servants. The richest man in the world and his fellow billionaire have outlined their plans for a drastic government overhaul in an article in The Wall Street Journal. Although they want to cut the number of federal workers aggressively, they are expecting many of them to simply resign if they are forced to go to the office.

Elon Musk fired three out of four employees after buying Twitter, but that led to a series of network failures and a departure of advertisers when the social media company stopped content moderation. The entrepreneur, however, prefers to go overboard rather than fall short. In the article, he holds the view that the civil service protections that apply to federal employees do not apply, if what is being undertaken is a widespread reduction in employment and not layoffs as a form of political retaliation.

In their view, Donald Trump would have broad powers as president to enact measures ranging from large-scale layoffs to relocating federal agencies outside the Washington area. And that’s where they add their plan to end work-from-home policies introduced during the Covid era: “Requiring federal employees to come to the office five days a week would result in a wave of voluntary terminations that we welcome. If federal employees don’t want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn’t pay them for the Covid-era privilege of staying home,” they write.

as Paul Harvey would say, the rest of the story

With due respect to Congressman Torres, Musk is no “intrepid innovator.” He’s an intrepid government contractor. And he’s caused extraordinary harm to America — from the dangerous lies he’s spewing on X, to his war on workers, to the $120 million he spent to get Trump elected.Musk’s so-called “innovations” have depended on government money. Tesla and SpaceX got started with assistance from state and federal policies, government contracts, and loans.

By January 2010, Musk had sold fewer than 2,000 Teslas. He then received a $465 million low-interest loan from the Department of Energy, months before Tesla’s initial public offering. With that loan, Tesla developed its Model S car, its first major success, and repaid the loan through proceeds from an additional sale of stock in 2013.Every Tesla purchaser also received a $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles, a subsidy that totaled an estimated $3.4 billion for Tesla. Even if the subsidy let Musk raise prices by half that amount, that would be another $1.7 billion in federal help.

In addition, state and federal tax credits aimed at reducing greenhouse gases generated another $2 billion for the company between 2008 and 2019, accounting for nearly 25 percent of its revenue in 2008 and 10 percent of its revenue over the next five years. Overall, sales of regulatory credits have brought in nearly $11 billion to Tesla.

Not until 2021 was Tesla able to post a profit without the help of credit sales. Without regulatory credits, Musk wouldn’t be the richest person in the world.

Incoming Senate majority leader threatens ICC with sanctions over case against Israelis | The Times of Israel

Senator John Thune said Sunday that the US must pass legislation threatening the International Criminal Court with sanctions if it seeks arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or other Israeli officials.

“If the ICC and its prosecutor do not reverse their outrageous and unlawful actions to pursue arrest warrants against Israeli officials, the Senate should immediately pass sanctions legislation, as the House has already done on a bipartisan basis,” Thune wrote on social media platform X.
