Never liked him. The only coach I disliked from the start. Thought he was just weird from day one. Then when he made up stories about death threats I knew he was weird. He can go back under the rock he came from.
When they said they practiced tackling our own defensive players that might pick up a fumble late in a game to prevent him from scoring? I knew I had heard it all. They said they practiced for that unlikely scenario. I understand that towards the end of games, if you get a turnover, you might be better off taking a knee, but to practice tackling your own man? They practiced for that? Morons...
Maybe you should have offered to whiten his teeth for free, since they bother you so much. Your contribution to the team!
He didn't make up the death threats. Why would he do that? You think fans are above that? Players were getting them also, and he didn't want to name players. He just handled that really, really poorly. Should have told the AD, and perhaps the law, before yapping to the press.
What if he wanted to be OC for Napier? I would se that as possible. No pressure to build a roster? Just call plays
The only thing I'll say in his favor is I'll never care for the reaction he got when he chewed Kelvin Taylor out for the throat slash gesture after scoring a touchdown. Nobody would flinch if Nick Saban did that. I was then and still am sick of the stupid penalties due to lack of discipline that seem to be entrenched in the DNA of this program. I thought, at least at the time, that he was trying to change that, which is a good thing. He probably came away from that already getting tired of the job.
There's no Gator football coach I'm more indifferent about. At least I had strong thoughts about lumpy, darth, and zooker.
If I remember correctly(I am currently concussed) the university did an investigation and found nothing of the sort.
I was there sitting right by the band in that endzone for the goal line stand. That was some major fun.
Good ol Tyrie Cleveland who also caught the game winner vs UT for that seasons final win. He's going deep and I mean deep. . .
