His endorsement of quackery on his show (while knowing better) makes him unqualified to do anything other than heart surgery. He's a fraud. I thought this of him way before any foray into politics, so the claim that the unfavorable opinion comes from political bias is ridiculous.
Who hates him? Most people are just puzzled that someone with seemingly 0 budgetary oversight experience is now in charge of 14% of the government's annual expenditures. (Note: The entire defense budget is only 13%)
