playing devils advocate…our team talent total on 247 sports has been pretty steady with and before Napier…not sure if his recruiting is mid but overall team talent hasn’t changed much in ten years. 2015. 15th 2016. 16th 2017. 17th 2018. 12th 2019. 15th 2020. 7th 2021. 7th 2022. 14th 2023. 15th 2024. 12th
Regardless of those ranking numbers, you and I both know that some of those years had a lot of talent that we got, and some of them had almost no talent that never ever did anything for us.
The other side of the coin is CBN did bring in Lagway (who loves him for some reason)...I believe at this point that most kids don't want to come to a losing program (which is what we have been with CBN unfortunately) because they have so many other options these days...We need to keep Winning.
On one hand, I don't know if DJ is yet making it consistently to his second read. OTOH, the deep ball threat (and when healthy, scrambling and designed run)...I bet that BIGLY opens things up. Might we actually see some slants? Some seam routes? Stuff over...wait, I remember this word, gimme a second...the middle?
Agreed, I wish there were updates that showed ranking of who actually got admitted, who made it a year, etc. My impression: Mullen had a lot of NSD star numbers that never put on a jersey.
Yep, that would work. Relatedly, I was pretty surprised that he got fired in year 2 at little Fau. He had a bad record this year but still it's only year 2. Similarly he got fired at Texas after 4 years and never had a losing season there. Still a young guy tho. Dude needs a new agent maybe.
I gave it 2 days to come back to earth a little bit after a good win. Still need to do a lot of things consecutively to get to where we want to be. Hopefully we can avoid the let down.
The board is a bit schizophrenic these days considering the depths of despair here at halftime of the Texas game and now some are talking beating ole Miss and an 8 win season.
I’ve heard (I know, I know). Billy has to hire an OC but a big part was that like 15 starters were going to bolt if he got canned. The players evidently love the HBC at this point. It is what it is, team is mostly playing way better than games 1/3. If not for bad luck vs UT AND UGA the record would be much better and it would be a turn around for the ages.
UF used the middle of the field fairly effectively against LSU. They didn't run many plays on offense so it didn't look like they were using the middle. UF's WRs are getting open so go with what works, right? Lagway opens up the playbook quite a bit. There are plays we run with Lagway that we didn't run with Mertz at QB.
Lagway threw a perfect fade that reminded me of wuerffel and made me believe he could hit it any time we call it like Danny.
Just got to watch the replay of the Gators win. Billy 100% deserved this win. That was a 4-5 team playing like it was fighting for a playoff spot. You didn’t see that kind of intensity from the players for the last three coaches. It was unreal.
