I know little of her background. Would her platform basically be maga?

“The pressure is mounting for Gov. Ron DeSantis to appoint Lara Trump to fill the U.S. Senate vacancy left by Marco Rubio, who was tapped to serve as President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of State.

But MAGA supporters began lobbying hard on social media for Lara Trump, a former television producer and the spouse of Eric Trump, son of the president-elect. They have lived in Jupiter since 2021.
Not only has she been endorsed by Musk, but Florida Sen. Rick Scott, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna and brother-in-law Donald Trump Jr. also said she’d be a good pick.

DeSantis, freshly returned from a weeklong trade mission to Italy, said he is weeks away from making a choice,”

Pressure is on for DeSantis to tap Lara Trump for Senate

This should automatically disqualify her from an such consideration.

She's the Donald's daughter-in-law, that's the only credential that matters. If DeSantis is interested in the seat himself he could always appoint a place holder candidate who would agree not to run for the seat in 2026 and he also has the option of appointing himself. Although I personally really dislike him Byron Donalds would be a much better choice than Lara Trump.

Fla and Desantis are repubs. The bigger question is would she be better than other repubs? For example Rubio had his own ideas but he wasn’t too popular with maga.

Yeah man. Get in power and appoint all your family to other positions of power. Gonna change my last name to Trump. Doubt an 80 year old president will even know. I can probably be ambassador to Botswana or something

Locked seat regardless. Probably more interesting to see her stock trade disclosure. Check out the likes of Quiver Quantitative.

Would be awfully stupid of DeSantis when we all know he wants to run for that seat in 2026.

If he does, why not appoint himself. It would be easier running as an incumbent I would think.
