I find it funny - or maybe ironic- the posts giving Kelly grief for yelling at players after all the posts I see over the past year about Napier never showing emotion and never getting upset at coaches and players when they screw up. Personally, I think yelling and screaming at players and coaches doesn’t mean a coach is good or bad. Some are bad (Muschamp) some are good (Saban). It is not a barometer for success. additionally, the posts laughing at LSU for being stuck with Kelly due to the buyout of 60 million - and some think they should pay it- and for thinking Kelly should be fired with a record of 26-11 over nearly 3 seasons. Show emotion/yell and have a winning % of 70%. That warrants termination. Our coach - hired at the same time- has a buyout of 26 million, a record of 16-19 and a winning % of 46% but that buyout is too much and that record misleading. Can’t make this stuff up.
Every good defense they have faced has abused their OL, against the rush and the pass. There is stats, then there is stats, and then there is reality.
I predicted that we would lose and thought Lagway wouldn't start. But even hampered with having to stay in the pocket proved he is an elite talent. If we get just a little better in the trenches and clean up some third/4th down conversions, we would be talking about a whole different season. I will gladly eat my portion of crow along with everyone else's if we keep getting these results.
Whatever happened to the recap videos (Gator Rewind or similar) featuring Gator radio play-by-play and great edits? Those seriously got me HYPED! Missing those right now for sure!
Not sure exactly what you’re referencing, but there is a YouTube channel that edits the games to just action and synchronizes it with Gator radio broadcasts.
Hence why they had all day to pick up so many third downs. Most of those sacks didnt come wuick, they held their blocks well but he just didnt get anywhete to throw.
And with the addition of Oklahoma and Texas, eight and four is not horrible in the SEC. Every team can't win them all and you can't fire your coach every time you don't go to the SEC championship
Which means even with our injuries, our secondary was doing their job. Some of those seven sacks were with our 4 man rush. Good thing Nussbaum isn't very mobile.
Gator Gameday's film breakdown pointed this out. Nuss actually had his second most time-to-pass of the year. But (a) coverage and (b) DL continuing to work toward the QB caused those sacks. Most of the sacks came after two of their starting OL came out. So that likely has something to do with it.
