I love our team. I think we have a lot of exceptional talent on our team that is probably not being utilized the best. Just because I don't fellate CBN doesn't mean I don't love our team.
That guy and his IP address earned a vacation from the boards a LONG time ago! I blocked him rather early on in seeing his garbage. I know clicks mean money, but come on…send those like him packing.
Censoring diverse viewpoints isn't really helpful. If what I am saying bothers you that much, there must be some truth to it. Otherwise, you'd just laugh it off. But I am not claiming to be 100% right. I don't know everything. I'm just making my observations, no different than everyone else here is.
Why do you think Kirby is successful? Because his teams run the ball, play suffocating D and out talent everyone. The QB is the icing on the cake. That’s the same formula Nick Saban used. Billy is trying that plan. His run game is there, he expected the D to be strong and used Merton as a game manager. That plan failed earlier because the D underperformed and you need receiver talent around the QB. This is the year we have some talent n depth there. I am saying give him a chance.
1. The defense got a lot better. Simplification helped, probably. Being able to put together a great pass rush was huge yesterday. 2. The offensive line is playing well. 3. Baugh and Jackson look great. The OL is also helping that, but they are also really talented. 4. And we have a (almost) healthy quarterback that can make plays. Before DJ got hurt against Georgia, I felt this way about the team and Texas was clearly a no-win situation with a third stringer at QB. No I was not particularly surprised yesterday. And the coaching staff deserves some credit for all of those points. Now I await being called a "sunshine pumper". It's cool. Go Gators!
I think this thread is responsible for the turnaround and will now evolve into the Buzz on Billy's statue status thread.... ...so there!
If Billy is "trying that plan" (to out talent everyone), he's not doing too well. We're currently ranked 15th out of 16 SEC teams in recruiting for the 2025 class. And while I like our current talent, we don't have the depth to out talent most teams in the SEC now. Coupled with the nosedive in recruiting, I'm not sure how you think Napier's plan is going to work. But having an all-SEC, generational QB isn't a bad backup plan.
I like DJ, but I’m not sure you can blame all the struggles on play calling. DJ has all of his success along the boundries. His first 3 passes in the middle of the field were all available to get picked. if this was year 1, we’d be bonkers over these results. I don’t care where LSU ends up in the final rankings, whipping that tiger azz feels good. Unfortunately it’s year 3, but these results have been with his guys. I like the trajectory more than I did 6 weeks ago for sure
“If we're going to rebuild this place and create a championship contender, it will be rocky at times and you've got to be a tough guy and you've got to be up for the challenge,” Napier said.
He needs to add what Mertz has to his arsenal. Get the easy plays given by the defense and set up more second and fives than second and tens. He can do that and still be the threat to score on every play. At this point, he is an elite playmaker but not yet an elite qb. It was nice to see he got the job done without using his legs because thats what truly elite qb's do. He has a long way to go but when he starts making all those little plays like hitting that te sitting in the middle when the first couple routes dont pan out, he is going to be scary. Then he has legs if all else fails. His potential is so much higher than what we are seeing right now. That step up in the pocket while simultaneously throwing that pass was something that not many can do and it was effortless and right on the money.
The question for me is will BN take that next step in the off season and embrace being a CEO type coach vs trying to be HC/OC? Very few have the bandwidth given what all the HCs have to deal with nowadays, particularly on game day. Even Lane, who I think we all agree is a much better OC, doesn't call plays.
THIS!! Read his slobbering over Colorado in his Utah/Colorado thread. TROLL. Why he is still here is a mystery.
I tend to agree. Coaches always look better when they have a talent advantage and having Tebow and Harvin on the same offense is hard to defend. Its sideline to sidelin every play with a bruising running game while tge defense is spread out. Bama couldve never stuffed the box on Timmy like that or Percy would have made them regret it. And we had weapons everywhere but those two were over the top good at what they did.
To the question of why we didnt run much, lsu's entire gamplan looked to be to stop our running game. They crowded the box and blitz continuously. Running into that all night probably wasnt a good idea.
I seem to recall a period of time where trolls were given heavy handed justice on GC. It was one of the reasons GC was so much better than other sites. It would be a shame to lower the standards for clicks. I’m not attacking our mods, they’re good people. I just don’t understand the shift for clickbait ad money.
