That's insider info, but I heard there was on 5* star receiver from the Tampa area (Dallas Wilson) and a 4* star QB that we're interested in, both are 2025 recruits. And several committed players were there too.
Do you agree that maybe Napiers O is hampered by the OL and bad QBs? The aspect I need to see to fully evaluate Billy’s o is how it will work with the QB read element. If that helps open up the O and the run game, we are cooking.
But you seem to invalidate the gains made by the team. It’s sounds like when the team plays well it’s the players in spite of Napier.?
OTOH, Ole Miss is peaking and coming off of a bye week. In line for a CFP appearance, they will be laser focused. They will be a lot to handle, but that is why we play the game. Anything is possible on Saturday.
This is a repost of mine that I made on another thread. One of the announcers, that at first could not compliment LSU and their QB enough, later stated that this was his first time in The Swamp for a Game, and he was blown away by the Tom Petty song (new tradition) and then carried on about how college football was the greatest sport on Earth, and it's because of teams and stadiums like the Gators... The Swamp... in Gainesville. Paraphrasing, but that is very close to his words as I can remember.
First, I don't consider "gains" when we lose games. I don't believe in moral victories for the sake of propping up a coach's image. So, we beat LSU. Solid win. The Gator standard isn't one solid win a year. I was here for the Utah win and the Tennessee win too. Let's see what happens from here. I am open to the possibility of beating Ole Miss. But I won't be talking about how Napier is turning the corner if we lose a close one against Ole Miss.
If that's directed at me, honestly, please find some citations. I've been on Team Billy all year. Perhaps you have me confused with another poster? Even on that post, I was trying to celebrate that, after being left for dead, we're up to #26. I mean, that's shockingly good, right? There's genuine momentum going on. Keeping Billy, pouring a lot of money into NIL, and an electric win, all in 10 days time...it's probably going to have a big, quick flip in our recruiting rank.
Shout out to #88 Caleb Banks... He lived in LSU's backfield, getting not only TFL but QB sacks as well. But the one play that I remember with excitement was his hit on the LSU lineman, the O-lineman for LSU that took their QB's fumble and thought he could run with the ball, until Caleb Banks absolutely destroyed him dislodging the ball carrier from the ball and picked up the fumble for the Gators. That was a thing of beauty... and that hit and fumble recovery by Banks made me laugh out loud... It just means more!
I hear you and I don’t think we should wait forever to have a functional team. But it is always Brick by brick if you want to build a mansion. It’s not a motor home we are after…Dan Mullen did that and we know where that left us..
DJL is special and the team clearly rallies around him. He also has a good record as a starter. Despite the criticism of CBN, the team has gotten better. Happy to see Trey hit crucial, and long FGs. Wow, 7 sacks, LSU, 0, against an imobile QB. Incredible. UF has a decent shot to get 6 wins and a bowl, things are trending up. Key recruiting weekend, and DJ said his text was buzzing from guys. Looks like UF could close our HS recruiting with a few flips for the class. Looks like CBN has a good budget for the portal. UF will enter 2025 with experience finally, maybe, just maybe, UF may turn the corner and be a legit SEC contender. Gotta win that 6th for those 15 practices, a bowl and early signing day MOJO. Go Gators!
The PFF clip I linked above gives him a lot of props. They also point out something that shocked me: we played 14 DL compared to 6 for LSU. 10 of our 14 graded out above average. Want to know why 6 of the 7 sacks came after the middle of the 3rd?
Dan Mullen went toe-to-toe with Nick Saban's Alabama in the SECCG with his boys. When Billy Napier does that, then I'll start trashing Dan Mullen. Dan Mullen went 21-14 in SEC play, which includes the disastrous 2021 season. Billy Napier is 9-14 in SEC play. Until Billy Napier eclipses Mullen's winning percentage, I'm not going to trash Dan Mullen for the sake of propping up Billy Napier. It's a joke. No, Mullen was not a long-term solution, but he was way better than what we've seen under Billy Napier. Mullen didn't like to recruit? Check our current recruiting rankings and tell me if you think I'm going to trash Dan Mullen's recruiting right now. I am not sure why there is this need for people to demonize Dan Mullen to prop up Billy Napier. Dan Mullen has done waaaaaaaaay more for this program than Billy Napier has to date. Both as OC and head coach. At least at this stage. Subject to change, but we're not even close yet for it to be a real discussion.
IMO BN has found his type of qb. Don't get me wrong, GM played his heart out for UF and a super friend/coach to Lag, but a qb, any qb who throws more east and west vs north and south isn't going to win many ballgames. Lag is a difference maker who thrives on getting the ball downfield. That tends to open running lanes as well. Lag's record as starter speaks for itself.
