No matter how bad things get or seem the Gator fans show up. After a blowout loss to Texas, fans still showed up. Meanwhile, fsu fans are no shows, um even with winning season can't sell out. Say what you will, UF fans get some grief now and then for things said after a win or loss, but UF fans represent. IMHO, there is nothing like a big game in the swamp with rabid Florida fans!
One of the announcers, that at first could not compliment LSU and their QB enough, later stated that this was his first time in The Swamp for a Game, and he was blown away by the Tom Petty song (new tradition) and then carried on about how college football was the greatest sport on Earth, and it's because of teams and stadiums like the Gators... The Swamp... in Gainesville. Paraphrasing, but that is very close to his words as I can remember.
I wasn’t able to go to the game but it looked like the Swamp was rocking last night. I think my favorite scene from last night might have been Kelly’s daughter whining about Florida fans. My second favorite was watching Kelly whine to the refs and then one of the refs walking away with an annoyed “this guy is a douche” look on his face. My third favorite was a composite of the fans standing up and cheering until the last player left the field.
Atmosphere was great..felt like the "old days" We were chanting "it's great to be a Florida Gator" as we were leaving the stadium and along the sidewalks... I stayed and sang the Alma mater and fight song with our team...soaked up every minute
I know of no better entrance into the stadium than what's on the screen - hungry gators lifting their heads out of the swamp and then the team comes out. And to top it off a night game right after the 3rd quarter and the singing of 'Won't Back Down' with the crowd into it, lights everywhere, it's the bomb. No other place imo can match this.
And to injury depleted UF secondary. CBs and Safeties had to take 93 snaps each. Imagine how tired they must be. Great job to all!
They didn't reach their potential and left a bad smell but Wilson and Lane will forever be Gator legends.
Real gator fans enjoy how great gator football is. Others, just whine and complain about the coaches, and miss the whole experience. One thing I never hear the fire everyone crowd ask is this: are the students and fans that actually show up enjoying the gator experience?
That phrase went thru my head. I'd rather be an 0-10-1 Gator than a 12-0 nole, cuz "It's great to be a Florida Gator."
