I think we could be red-shirting a bunch of players for next year and I do believe we have a smallish class, but we still get what we need from the high school level for the future. We'll get the rest from the portal.

This is an all or nothing 2025 season for Napier next year.

I thought 2024 was the “prove it” year but then we got blown out in our first two games after Napier told us how good this team was. It seems the goal posts keep moving.

Sorry, Rick, but that’s what 2024 was supposed to be. Napier delivered nothing, but he got all anyway. I have zero reason to believe 2025 holds anything different. Yes, some of these players, such as Lagway, show exceptional promise, but they will still suffer from the same coaching. Would still love be proven wrong over the next two games, though.

Not universally. I thought it was bit of a head-scratcher particularly with the unearned contract we gave him.

You know, I'm not in charge of the goal posts... the AD is.

I, too, thought it was 2024.

FSU followed suit even though they saw how ATM flamed out with FSU's former coach. I just don't understand the angst to give any coach (outside of Nick Saban) that kind or contract.

He’ll still come here for 5 though and no guaranteed money. We’re UF!

The thing is that being successful in both isn't mutually exclusive. Any Presidential hopeful that would prioritize a $180M revenue stream over a $5B one should never be considered as a candidate. Any Presidential candidate that indicated that they couldn't manage to oversee successful ventures in both areas (or would ignore the $180M stream) shouldn't be either.

Teams that aren't at the top of the pecking order are petrified of hiring the right coach and then having a bigger school poach him.

We just have no pres and strick isnt likely to hire the next guy. Im sure the guys footing the bill are fed up too but its best to start at the top. They obviously wanted to fire him as the nil money went to zero. It seems they have put their heads together and have decided its best to do it right than make rash decisions. Pres first, then clean house. Nape can start winning in tge meantime which doesnt seem likely.

Itll happen if you dont pay up. It was rumored that Texas tried to buy Saban and raised the price for all coaches. Its bs tgat schools dont foot the entire bill as football generates enough to float itself but boosters insidt on tipping the scale to the school they support and the system allows it. Nfl sucks but tgey are correct in making a cap and draft to ensure tgat the skill of running an organization makes it possible to win. Noone can compete with insurmountable money.

I agree it’s tough to fire him right now but he desperately needs a few wins even with the “statement of support “ from the AD.

This year is not going to help much. His seat will be the same when we get a new pres. He better not have hiccups next year because the new pres is going to be ready to pull the plug.

My take: I blame the face in the mirror. Fans all think their school deserves a whale, back up the Brinks truck, nothing but the best. 2 years into a 10 year contract, fire him and pay out whatever it takes to then pay whatever it takes to back up the Brinks truck for the next whale. I'm not paying, but my snowflake self deserves championships.

We want bigger, better, more of everything. So it's an arms race. "OMG our practice facility is at least two years old, we're behind!" No school wants to be the one that says the emperor has no clothes and get left behind.

Collective madness. Like our politics. There's no market for normalcy.

I never realized large buyouts were part of the reason for not firing a coach. Learn something new everyday

    1. He better hire a booth play caller, and a damn good one.
    2. He better learn how to land some big fish in the NIL fishin hole because the portal hole might only get you a lot of minnows.
    3. He better get a bowl.
    4. He better prove he can win next year or none of it will matter
