You might be right but it seems incredibly unlikely for it to rise anywhere near where expected with this little time left before ESD and so very, very few highly ranked kids even considering us. A big win against Texas might still have enough time to make an impact, but the window is closing fast. Too many kids have their final options already set and are going to choose from that list. And I fear very few are bothering to wait and see on us anymore, one way or another. As you've said, a huge influx of extra money could still turn heads, but there's no sign of that yet and very soon it will be too late to make a difference in the HS class. I'm still hopeful even a few kids reconsider and the class moves up and settles in a more respectable position. But I simply can't remember ever being in a danger of finishing with a class as low as we are and might still be.
I hear what you’re saying. But unfortunately, I don’t think it’s fair to Judge things based on these last few games unless Lagway comes back. I don’t expect much with a third stringer behind center.
I don't think the offense will do much the rest of the year. But i would love to see the defense Ball out the rest of the season, even if they are gassed by 4th quarter.
Let's just put it this way. The last time we finished so poorly in recruiting they didn't even rank classes, so we have no idea what to compare it to.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion obviously, but to be at The University of Florida, that is a pathetically low bar. This is a bottom line multi billion dollar industry. Win, or you get shown the door
Our nil game is nonexistent at the moment and i think that will have a negative impact on this class. You are probably right that it is irreversible at this point for this class. Itll get better when decisions are made but its too late to build anything like we had last year. If they arent going to fire him, they screwed the pooch by not getting this class to gether earlier. If they are firing him, they still screwed up. They got run over by mack playing hokey pokey in the middle of the freeway with all the indecision.
With Lagway he can. What I’m afraid of is Napier riding Lagway, never winning anything big, then Lagway leaves and he’s garbage again.
I don’t think you can really put the same value on recruiting rankings anymore. Montrell isn’t factored into the rankings. Neither is Badger, Pup, Dike, McClain, Robinson etc. We can have an off year in HS recruiting and still have a solid roster with the help of the portal. Though I don’t think it’s a strategy that is sustainable long term.
I think but am not sure that they re-rank the classes after the initial portal season ends. I just don't follow it that closely anymore now that its just about the size of the paycheck.
I am more concerned now than I was after the losses at the beginning of the season. For me there was no urgency to fire Napier so long as the recruits were coming in, because we could recruit a good playcaller on a solid foundation of players. This is how we did when we sent Zook packing and picked up Urban. But the incoming weak class combined with the scholarship limit increase is a perfect storm. We should be lining up more talent for 2025 not less. It is the most important recruiting year in recent memory. I hope we are shopping behind the scenes.
Unfortunately Napier's patented lack of urgency is more than likely to put us into a hole that will be difficult to climb out of.
I would say it's even harder than this season. Start the season playing the state of Florida 4 of the 1st 5 games and we finish the last 4 games on the road, all against the SEC.
Florida Gators Coaches | College Football at Sports-Reference.com Just to remind everyone of UF Head Football Coaching records. Billy Napier is historically bad. Mullen was significantly better, as was Mac, Zook, …. Napier had one of the worst coaching records and winning percentages EVER at UF
I’m not sure what your looking at but they have next years schedule posted on Gatorzone but dates have yet to be announced. I’m pretty sure it will be in much the same order as this season which will give us home against Texas, then on road at LSU and Ole Miss finish at home against FSU. I sincerely hope the powers that be split our open dates up and give us one in second half of season or move S Florida or Fla A&M towards the end of schedule. Our back-loaded schedule is ridiculous . This of course assumes two open dates. May just be one.
Hmmm...that's a good question. Will general play begin on 8/30 or 9/6? My guess is 8/30 since that is Labor Day weekend. That would allow for 2 bye weeks in 2025 as well. One thing, however, is that all of our tour of FL games already have their dates set and none of 'em fall on 8/30: Saturday Sep. 6 USF Bulls Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL Time TBA ETTV TBA Saturday Sep. 20 at Miami (FL) Hurricanes Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL Time TBA ETTV TBA Saturday Oct. 11 Florida A&M Rattlers Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL Time TBA ETTV TBA Saturday Nov. 1 vs Georgia Bulldogs EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, FL Time TBA ETTV TBA Saturday Nov. 29 Florida State Seminoles Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL Time TBA ETTV TBA Does that mean we are going to get an SEC opener on 8/30? Possibly on the road?
