We are laugh at your boy Trump touting his new powerless committee as the $2 trillion savings fairy. Pro tip, it’s another Trump lie that people like you are falling for.

Who's falling for it? My boy? How is he my boy if I never voted for him? And I love that the left is now all of a sudden calling out extremely optimistic numbers. Maybe if you did it for Dems I would take your criticism as more than partisan politics. But we all know you are about as far left as Bernie and AOC. It's ok, I hope you keep your pronouns in your bio...

Hard to argue against some budget cuts. Although, the cuts mentioned is to match current tax revenue. Add’l budget cuts will be needed if trump wants more tax cuts.

Those levels of austerity will most likely send us into a deep recession. Fed spending makes up a large portion and driver for our gdp.

Firing every single government employee doesn't even get you halfway to 2T.

Hence my saying it's a lot like the fox volunteering to watch over the henhouse for free. Do you think there will be any cuts to all the federal money that goes to SpaceX?

We established early on you have no idea how to get to $2T in cuts but trust Trump and Elon to do it. That's fine. It wont be done by getting the $600B governing departments more efficient, whether you cut $50B or $100B. That is still $1.9T short. When confronted with that reality you either run to "Im sure the rich guy will figure out new math" or "wanna bet on an itty bitty number?".

Absolutely agree. And bringing in a ceo cowboy with glib soundbites will not do it.

LOL. You are just throwing away 50 or 100Billion like it's nothing. Do you even realize how much money that is? But that's ok, you know Musk/Vivek will find more than that to cut that's why you won't bet me. But back to being butthurt. Sucks for you.

Vivek is floating a magical 75% reduction of Fed workforce. What happens to those people? They go into private company and consultancy and the Fed outsources large sections of the admin to private contractors. The efficiency is only if you get contractors who compete on price and reduce overall costs. The rules makers and selectors of the contractors become a grift. The taxpayer gets worse services, more corruption, and probably a lot of waste.

We started at $2 trillion. Now you're down to $50-100 billion. That's more realistic. Glad you understand now.

LOL. You are acting like that's some miniscule amount. I think they will get rid of somewhere between $250-500Billion within 2 years. That is a staggering amount of our money. But back to you being butthurt. Sucks for you. Anyone who wants to take bets on this I'll take over $250Billion by the time DOGE shuts down in 2026.

When have I ever said $50-100 billion is a minuscule amount. It is not a minuscule amount by itself but it is a small amount compared to the $2 trillion claimed. That's the point. They won't come close to cutting the 2T Musk said they would. Even you clearly agree.

The first thing I would like Trump to do is make Congress go back to 0 line budgeting- we use base line budgeting which means the starting point is what was budgeted last year and a lot of the things in our budget have a built in increases- it is impossible to balance a budget when you do not start at 0. When I owned my 4 Firehouse Subs, I sat down with each GM in late October and went over every line in our budget. If they could convince me we needed to spend more money on a specific area, then I increased the budget, but the money had to come from somewhere. So there we items that got cut. You 2 biggest costs in a restaurant are wages and food cost. Those 2 added up to about 55% of our revenues. I also had a target I wanted to hit in bottomline. The only way to increase that was to increase the top line, aka revenues. Our Federal guvment operates in a deficit, so they borrow money to make up the difference. that is not a sound business practice. If you re going to cut taxes then you have to cut spending. Instead we just print more money.

Cutting such and such constituency's programs makes it too easy for the other side to point the finger and say "look what he did!!" For Trump, this won't be a problem, because he is not up for re-election again.
