I'm not advocating for a patronage system. I'm advocating for a ****massively*** reduced administrative state.

We can probably make do with 30% of the federal employees we presently have, and 1/2 of the administratively-promulgated federal regulations.

Kind of reminds of this saying:

Best argument AGAINST democracy: A conversation with the average voter.

Best Argument FOR democracy: every other style of government

I'm practically quoting the producers of The Apprentice. You only think it's crap because it does not match your self-deluded world view. After puberty hits ya, you might develop some maturity and see the world as it is, not as Trump tells you it is. Trump does love his useful idiots.

You have no idea whether the 2020 election was stolen or not.

The 2020 election was not stolen. Trump tried, but he was prevented from stealing it.

That’s actually just incredibly sad for the person who would have that mentality.

It reminds me of the joy being expressed at the perceived outrage over the nominations like Gaetz. He's going to be their AG as well. It is a loss for all of us.

Uneducated and ill-informed Trump voters get buyer's remorse. Many have relatives that are not here legally, and they just realized they voted to have their parents or girlfriend deported (one thought that his girlfriend would get a pass because she's really hot). Some were shocked that Trump's policies would make grocery prices go up, and special needs education would see reduced (or no) funding.

I no longer care about the 2020 election, there is nothing that can change it- I am just thrilled with the 2024 election results

And you know that how? Any idiot can claim we can do this or that with the government, but do you actually have any qualifications to make that statement, or are you just talking out of your azz?

Many on the right believe lies. But is that what swung the election? Most of the right already believed lies.

Best we can tell is that the change was mainly among lower engaged voters who felt like they were economically behind, or they felt alienated but certain cultural issues.

Sure, Republicans lie about the impact of immigration, like crime, stealing jobs etc. But it is true that the border was a disaster - if nothing else optically, people just coming in at will. What is really interesting is this position is being felt disproportionately among non whites and especially groups like Hispanics. So is Fox News lies causing Hispanics to be concerned about immigration?

Republicans may exaggerate the impacts of crime, but among those voters that have switched they probably did experience the (mostly ) temporary rise in crime more than everyone else.

In terms of economics, inflation and covid unemployment hit middle and lower income workers harder.

It’s disappointing that these voters are so stupid or uninformed to think that Donald Trump is going to make things better for them, but nonetheless these are real issues and Democrats really didn’t have a message to come back with.
