It's an investigation. The university is required to conduct one, but I wonder if there is also an external one going on? If the girls are lawyered up, then I would presume so, but maybe they are waiting for the result of the university investigation.

I tried to find this out, but the Title IX details didn't seem to indicate as much. The hush order would likely come from the university, to ensure that he in no way interferes with its investigation.

The lawyers for the girls already conducted their investigation before they filed the claim, unless they are incompetent and don't want to make money.

The girls have the evidence, if it exists.

Yes.. privacy rules in title IX.

    Beyond title IX, common sense.

No one in Golden's position with half a brain and a lawyer would yap to the press.

A claimant does not need lawyers to file a Title IX Complaint. It’s not a lawsuit.

What claim? Do you know that the girls filed a claim with lawyers? There is an investigation being conducted by the univ. Do you know of another?

Title IX prohibits any discussion or comments. It requires confidentiality. That is the reason UF and Golden can’t even acknowledge the investigation.

    Is there a Star Chamber?

I'm not taking sides, 'cause I don't know, but the process seems suspect.

Do you have a source for this? I'm not doubting it; genuinely curious

Correct. Just like they wouldn't need a lawyer to file a lawsuit. They are legally permitted to represent themselves in both instances.

But I would be shocked if they haven't hired attorneys.

"Filed a claim with lawyers"? What does that mean? Do you mean did the girls hire lawyers to represent them in their Title IX claim? I would be shocked if they did not.

"Another" investigation? Why would there be another? Who would conduct this investigation? The educational institution is the one obligated to conduct an investigation under Title IX.

My comment about an "investigation" with regard to the girls and their lawyers meant that competent lawyers would "investigate" the merit of the claims before they would move forward. That would not be a formal "investigation". That's what lawyers typically do before filing any type of claim, not just Title IX claims.

I don’t think this is correct that Title IX was originally centered on athletics. From Wikipedia:

Title IX was enacted to fill this gap and prohibit discrimination in all federally funded education programs. Congressman John Tower then proposed an amendment to Title IX that would have exempted "revenue-generating" sports from Title IX.[9]

The Tower Amendment was rejected, but it led to widespread misunderstanding of Title IX as a sports-equity law, rather than an anti-discrimination, civil rights law.[10] While Title IX is best known for its impact on high school and collegiate athletics, the original statute made no explicit mention of sports.

    Thanks.
The school must keep confidential the identity of complainants, respondents, and witnesses...
That pretty much prevents both UF and UF's employee (respondent CTG) from even publicly acknowledging that a Title IX investigation is occurring, because to acknowledge it would reveal the identity of the respondent. No wiggle room that I can see.

I thought it was a straight forward question, which was "Do you know that the girls filed a claim with lawyers?" Like you, I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but I also haven't read anything to substantiate that.

Another investigation might be of a civil or criminal nature. I asked the question because you wrote that "The lawyers for the girls already conducted their investigation before they filed the claim." Again, if there is substance to this, I have not yet seen it.

    Got it, thnx

I think the point was your assumption the women hired a lawyer when there is no proof to that effect yet and @gatordavisl seemed to just be asking upon what you based that assertion as initially stated. That's how I took it.

That may prevent them from acknowledging specifically a Title IX investigation, but TG already acknowledged he's the subject of a (non-specific) investigation so this isn't the limiting thing we make it out to be.

If TG can acknowledge an investigation in a generic sense, it stands to reason he can claim innocence in a generic sense as well.
