I do not expect anyone on the left to like any of Trump's appointments - look at some of the freaks joey appointed, I did not like them but also knew I couldn't do a damned thing about it. I am sure you on the left loved them- that is just the way it goes

    TBL: Common sense > genius.

So, a DEI pick ;). I see nothing here that qualifies her for national intel director. Business degree? You're kidding, right?
Compare that with the current DNI:
    • Principal Deputy National Security Advisor
    • led the National Security Council’s Deputies Committee
    • Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency
    • worked in all three branches of government
    • research scholar at Columbia University and a senior fellow at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (but hey, Tulsi has a buiz degree). Degrees in physics (univ of Chicago) and law (Georgetown)
    • served as a member of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service

only one thing matters and that is Trump wants her in that position - I am one who thinks that it is time we put some fresh blood in these positions instead of just retreads. If she can't cut, it I am confident Trump will replace her.

Tulsi was also a martial arts instructor which really qualifies her better for Chief of Staff

That's a poor criterion, bill. Trumph also wanted a pornstar for a certain "position." Doesn't make it good or right. Trumph appointed Betsy DeVos Sec of Ed. He picked Gaetz for AG.

Probably not entirely since Trump is picking, but there are degrees here. I can say as someone who doesn’t like the Tulsi or Gaetz picks that I believe Rubio and Wiles are competent and qualified. Are there any current Trump hires/nominees that you don’t like or do you think they’re all about the same quality?

at some point you all will figure out that a large portion of Americans consider 25 years of being a beltway insider to be a bug, not a feature.

Imagine trying to convince people that Matt Gaetz and the guy who doesn't believe in viruses are big into common sense. Kind of a perfect illustration of the complete meaninglessness of the phrase, however.

do you realize she blames the US for Russia having to invade Ukraine

and she is a known Assad supporter?

wouldn't be surprised to see US kicked out of five eyes is she is confirmed

but hey, she's hot, and she know show to whisper sweet nothing n dear leaders ear

'Stunningly unqualified': Expert urges Senate to reject Trump's spymaster pick

"Gabbard is stunningly unqualified for almost any Cabinet post ... but especially for ODNI," wrote Nichols. "She has no qualifications as an intelligence professional — literally none. (She is a reserve lieutenant colonel who previously served in the Hawaii Army National Guard, with assignments in medical, police, and civil-affairs-support positions. She has won some local elections and also represented Hawaii in Congress.) She has no significant experience directing or managing much of anything."

"Gabbard ran for president as a Democrat in 2020, attempting to position herself as something like a peace candidate. But she’s no peacemaker: She’s been an apologist for both the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad and Russia’s Vladimir Putin," wrote Nichols. "Her politics, which are otherwise incoherent, tend to be sympathetic to these two strongmen, painting America as the problem and the dictators as misunderstood."

In addition to promoting conspiracy theories about the Syrian government's attacks on civilians, Gabbard has largely embraced Russian propaganda about the Ukraine war, blaming the Kremlin's unprovoked invasion on supposed aggression from NATO — whose partner nations' intelligence agencies she would have to collaborate with in this role.

The extreme right wing Washington Examiner says she is a danger to America... makes me wonder if Putin made this selection himself.

Republican senators, including Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Senate Majority Leader-elect Sen. John Thune (R-SD), now face a choice between putting the nation first or submission to Trump. After all, if Gabbard is approved, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will have an ideological sympathizer holding the keys to the U.S. intelligence community crown jewels. This is not an exaggeration.

The National Intelligence director supervises all U.S. intelligence agencies' collection, analysis, and mission efforts and the production and dissemination of the U.S. government's most sensitive intelligence reporting and analysis. This includes knowledge of spies buried deep inside foreign governments and terrorist organizations. The fact that Trump nominated Gabbard makes it clear that he is putting his distrust of the intelligence community before the critical interests of national security.

Senate GOP must stop Tulsi Gabbard from getting keys to intelligence castle
