lol. The Barr DOJ was epically incompetent and Barr is a good lawyer. Can’t wait to see how DOJ operates under Gaetz.

Gets him out of Congress, likely ending the House Ethics probe, and opens that seat up. Watch who runs for that seat in the special election.

And there was a lot of speculation that he may run for governor in 2026 - even if his AG nomination goes down in flames, he can bide his time between now and then as a TV talking head.

"Weaponized" is the vogue word these days to minimize criminal behavior. It's almost always used by Trump apologists who want to excuse the crimes he has committed. But, he's soon to be president, and I fully expect his Justice Department, lead by Matt Gaetz no less, will bring indictments which the left will call "weaponization".

The America I grew up in and so loved is no longer. There are now fractures and factions without honor or principles. I've lost all hope for our future, and it depresses me.

If this wasn't so bizarre it would be funny. Too bad Rick Scott isn't gonna be Senate Prez, it would be the trifecta of corruption.

My guess is this is a sacrificial loss.

You’re actually kinder to Matt Gaetz than I would’ve been.

I don’t think he’s particularly smart. Then again, his actions to this point have led him to an AG nomination he is in no way qualified for. So maybe he’s smarter than I thought.

I assumed Gaetz would run for Governor. But not sure how resigning from Congress and being sacrificed as a loss helps if that’s his real goal. Some speculation out there that he may be hoping to avoid release of the ethics investigation details by resigning? Also not sure how a failed nomination would help Trump. Who knows.

Haha ya you don’t have any bias at all and completely missed the point of the post. I never compared one to the other. I simply pointed out that Garlands “credentials” means little to a job that mostly used as a political pawn.

Still coping hard I can see.

Someone should have told Gaetz that before he quit his job then.

The thing is, if there was one pick Trump doesn't want to screw up, it's the AG pick. For that reason, I believe he is dead serious. If it was any other position, I might agree with you on the sacrificial lamb angle, but he's being flippant about the AG pick? He needs a good AG. If he's not serious about Gaetz, it's a questionable strategy.

Do you have an opinion about the recess appointments? Is it true Trump can get anyone through without advice and consent?

Michelle Salzman is considering Gaetz’ Congressional seat. I don’t agree with her on much politically but she would be a huge upgrade for our district IMO.

Everyone has a right to an opinion.

I don’t disagree that Garland is a well educated and seasoned man of the law. I don’t disagree that someone of his nature should be exactly what you want for AG. However he acted completely like a political pawn the entire time. Gaetz can do that since that seems to be the criteria.
