I'm thinking we hit the portal really hard this year, and next year he surprises all of us and has a very good year. I remain in my thinking it's best not to cut the ties this year and have SS hire another coach. I think we'll be right back her 3 years from now if that's the case. Best case for all of us is... since the announcement was made, and CBN will be here next year. He turns this around and proves most of us wrong. I'll be cheering for him to do that.
Yep a catch 22: hire " the" guy who can restore a pulse to this program versus a perpetual coaching recycling program on a path to oblivion. Hiring " the guy" is always a crapshoot. If it works out, that would be amazing. If not, rinse and repeat as we becoming increasingly irrelevant.
Who created the no pass option? It was CBN and his staff. Look up these names: (Rashada, Miller, Kitna, Brown, Stokes). These are failed evaluations that left us without a third string option for scholarship qb. CBN also has a walk on who is a former Colorado St. starting qb with a much better arm, who was a freshman All American before being injured and getting passed over by another qb. Somehow Warner is a better option though he can't throw. If that qb is injured or too slow to get the playbook I apologize to CBN, but I don't understand how Warner could have beaten him out in the spring, and why that would not have been re-visited later.
Do you really think there is no self analysis going on thru the season? Do you think film isn't broken down for exactly that purpose every day? His "answer" to that question is what you will get from a coach during the season
The time when he should actually bust out some trick plays to try to get the offense going he calls a 100% vanilla game outside of 1 wildcat. I usually assume he calls games not to lose, this one he called it to not get blown out. Surprise surprise, it had the exact opposite outcome as seems to always happen.
That scenario would still be an upgrade over what we have currently, so I am not sure why you'd be opposed.
Well, plus you have to scrutinize the purpose of the question itself. What coach would want to tell the media everything he was bad at, when it's the media's job to come up with that every week. The reporter was just trying to bait him into a bad soundbite. I would have answered it the same way if I were in his shoes. I mean, why even break the film down if you're not doing some level of self-analysis? But, laying that all out in excruciating detail for the media is not something any coach really does.
What makes you think this will happen? All of the available evidence suggests the exact opposite will happen.
It's a lot easier for an incoming coach to feel good about replacing someone who bolted for the NFL as opposed to someone who was fired after 3 years.
It's crazy a downside is a coach kills it so much in 2 years that he can leave for the NFL. In 2 years we hire another coach having just demonstrated success can be achieved quickly here, oh no how awful, just to be safe let's lose with Napier for another 2 years.
You're right. I forgot that he had an injury that forced him to miss the spring, so he "beat out" Millen in the fall camp, which I suppose was a week long of decisions on that pecking order.
Because the regular offense is painfully predictable and opposing defenses are ready to shut it down.
It’s not about being correct or who’s right and who’s wrong. It’s about what is. There is definitely evidence that suggests the opposite. If we’re struggling with HS recruits more than we have in decades, what leads you to believe he’ll have a blowout transfer portal class to help offset? I’d say the recruiting woes will probably translate somewhat to the portal. If HS kids don’t want to play for us, why would proven portal talent want to play for us? As for having a really good year next year, he has yet to do that at Florida in 3 years. So the evidence suggests it’s more likely than not that he won’t do well next year. Especially considering the aforementioned recruiting woes.
HS recruits are getting paid to sign. If we already have 70% of our NIL on the freshman and sophomore class, where are you getting more money from?
No coach in the modern era (since 1990) has ever had a losing record through 3 years and won any form of a championship. Guess Napier is gonna be the first.
