By: Nick Marcinko -- November 12, 2024 Week 12 marks the 71st meeting between Florida and LSU including the 35th matchup in Gainesville. Florida holds a slim 16-15-3 lead in the series in Gainesville despite trailing overall, 33-34-3. The two programs first met in Baton Rouge in 1937 (LSU 19, Florida 0), with the first matchup in Gainesville not coming until 1953 (Florida 21, LSU 21). * * * Let’s take a look at how these teams match up statistically. By the numbers: Florida vs LSU preview | GatorCountry.com
We need to stop their passing game if we want to win this game, and I think we need to put serious pressure up front for that to happen. I hope we get JD back for this game because with him playing QB I do believe we can beat this LSU team.
I think UF has a chance with him, but the odds would be against us. If its Warner, well, you may want to avoid Tiger Rag next week.
Wr haven't put pressure on anybody but UTk this year, and LSU has the best or second best OL we have seen all year. I don't see this as a good matchup again this year. Who would have thought 3 years in recruiting and we wouldn't have recruited an elite edge.
Not worried about stat lines. I've seen how we can perform against top teams. If DJ is able to play a bit, we have a shot. Things looked hopeless in Austin without him, but we've looked very capable vs GA and TN, could have won those with a little good fortune. If we can't play DJ then everything has to go our way for us to win. I don't think our luck will turn that much. Just everybody keep their shoes on!
I miss those crazy Swamp games where we play above our heads as an underdog and put a whoopin on somebody.
I lifted the follow information from Only Gators. "It has been a quick recovery process for Lagway, who reportedly suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Such an injury usually takes 2-8 weeks to heal, and Saturday will mark exactly two weeks since Lagway was hurt in the second quarter against Georgia. Napier on Wednesday said Lagway had been practicing all week ad continuously ramping up his work in those sessions." This Saturday will be the two week mark since Lagway's injury. I really doubt that he will be playing tomorrow. At the two week mark it looks too risky to put him on the field. In my opinion, next week or even the week after is when Lagway will see the playing field. Please note that the LSU game is at the 2 week mark, the Ole Miss game is at the 3 week mark, and the FSU game will at the 4 week mark. As stated above, it takes 2 to 8 weeks to heal. At this time we may not see Lagway again until next season.
All these reports that he is starting make me nervous. If he goes out there too early and re-injures it, we are in a real fix. I’m really hoping he is ready to play.
Be careful, some here will accuse you of not being a doctor, ergo your post is worthless and uneducated, albeit this is a message board. Myself, I strongly agree with your position. Napier is in a 'delicate" position. Lose 2 more, no bowl, more anger from Gator Nation. Most prognosticators suggest LSU is by far the more "winnable" contest between LSU / Ole Miss. So does Napier "risk" DJL against either? LSU in particular? As far as Warner, I have said repeatedly, I have nothing against the young man, and wish him well. My eyes and recent history suggest he is not prepared to lead the Gators to victory against either LSU or Ole Miss. Sure, the QB is not the only one that may decide the outcome of a game, certainly other position groups may do that, but again, examine recent history. Or the history of the last 3-3/4 years. It is highly unlikely that a UF position group, or groups, will be able to win a game against high caliber SEC competition, ESPECIALLY when led by a QB, with a limited skill set. I hope I'm wrong, I will be cheering for the O&B in all kinds of weather, but I am a bit "beat down", when it comes to optimisim.
With Pup and four stating defensive backs out some people will really have to step up. I try to be optimistic but it seems a stretch.
No chance at winning this game. Not that we suck, but too many starters are out. Lagway plays but who does he throw to? No Wilson, Badger, just Dike. Lots of youngsters. Same on defense. The guys that brought back the defense are out. I think LSU blows us out like Texas did. I have no idea why we have so many injured. Is our S&C that bad or is it because of bad luck?
While I agree somewhat there is a little difference that may skew the numbers. Primarily their QB consistency vs our QB issue especially the last two games. Mertz or DJ don’t get hurt we may be ahead in a few more offensive stats.
