Taiwan shouldn't be nervous at all. America literally has no way to create their technology due to the absolutely mismanaged tech sector supply chain. TSMC is more important for America than oil and gas now.
I mean - I feel bad for Ukraine but that is a deal that I would accept in a heartbeat because it protects what remains of Ukraine from future aggression. But again, I doubt Russia agrees to it - because I'm pretty sure they think they can outlast western support, especially since Trump has indicated that he is going to stop supporting Ukraine. So again, unless Trump changes that position, why would you accept that deal if you think in a long enough timeline you can win?
Plenty of reason to be nervous. As of January 20, 2025 the United States of America will no longer have a coherent defense policy and whatever defense policy we have will be administered and implemented by the least qualified Secretary of Defense since 1789 when we had our first Secretary of War.
so we agree to give up Taiwan provided that China pinky swears to keep giving us chips..that would be a typical djt deal and then crow about how he avoided war
russia throwing meat waves at Kursk trying to recapture Russian territory before any talks that djt may push. guess we know where the NK will be buried Russia Resorts to Banzai Attacks in Kursk to Retake Ukrainian-Held Areas Vadim Misnik, spokesperson for Ukraine’s “Siversk” tactical operations group, confirmed that Russian and North Korean troops are attacking Ukrainian lines in intervals of 10 to 15 minutes. According to Misnik, these continuous assaults are intended to drive Ukrainian forces from Kursk before the U.S. presidential transition in January. Analysts believe that Russia aims to strengthen its negotiation position in potential peace talks by reclaiming ground. Currently, the Kremlin has amassed around 45,000 to 50,000 Russian and North Korean soldiers in Kursk. This force is supported by frequent drone and artillery strikes, intensifying pressure on Ukrainian defenses.
that pick is probably the worst one yet. That and Noem to critical roles. Think the terrorists are laughing their ass off right now somewhere
NATO admiral comments on Trump's intentions to stop Russo-Ukrainian war quickly Admiral Rob Bauer, the head of the NATO Military Committee, has noted that the scenario of stopping the Russo-Ukrainian war in which the Kremlin would feel like a winner will definitely not be in the interests of the United States. So if I look at what President Trump says about 24 hours – which is probably more metaphorically than 24 hours – but let’s say ‘very soon’, then I cannot imagine that it is in the interest of the United States to allow Putin to come out of this conflict as a winner. It is in the interest of the United States." More details: Bauer stressed that the White House would also have to take into account the factor of North Korea's cooperation with Russia, as the DPRK not only provides Russia with some military assistance and sends its soldiers but also receives military and space technologies in exchange. He said that this would be a challenge and an issue for the United States. Bauer also pointed out the role of China, which does not provide direct military assistance, but helps Russia obtain the necessary goods and components. "You cannot solve Ukraine without looking at all these other players as well. Because otherwise, the United States will hurt itself," Bauer concluded.
You left out the most important part: To have Putin double pinky swear that he really means it this time.
Only an idiot believes that Ukraine cannot win this war. There are no guarantees, of course. But Ukraine, with a significant amount of western technology, probably has a better chance of winning this war than Afghanistan did in the 1980's, with minimal western technology. The Afghans' main ally was the terrain. How did that war turn out for Russia? Do you know? Or were you born since then and not educated as to the result (and the Kremlin did not inform you)? It has been ages since Russia won a major war without material assistance from the U.S. (even Stalin admitted that Russia would not win WWII without American equipment and supplies). One of Russia's biggest problems is incompetence at the very top. When Russia was outside of Kiev, Putin put on the brakes to prevent one of his generals from becoming the hero of the war and leaving Putin behind in the history books as a footnote. Putin will never accept a NATO country on his doorstep. Not until he runs out of ammunition and soldiers. He wants to negotiate a temporary cease fire to rebuild his armies and lull the west to sleep again. Then he can finish the job. The answer IS clear. Give Ukraine what it needs to win this war. Crank up production of artillery shells until Ukraine can fire as many shells per day as Russia. Allow Ukraine to use longer-range weapons on Russian war factories. The Russian army was built to intimidate most nations, and overwhelm much weaker nations. Ukraine is not that much weaker than Russia, and they are not intimidated. As long as Ukraine is willing to fight for their freedom, supplying them with weapons is the least we can do. For every dollar we spend on military equipment for Ukraine, we will save $10 in the next decade on national defense spending after Ukraine wins. We saved $2.5 trillion in defense spending in the decade after Afghanistan defeated the Russians. When you become an adult, all of this will make sense to you.
Below is a Podcast I listen to. In this episode they have Michael Bohnert, a military and acquisitions/military affairs SME with the Rand corp. he provides specifics in what equipment US/Biden can send with time remaining. Also discusses what equipment Europe should focus on. Quite interesting. Start at 19:15
