I think this guy is going to have be one of those recess appointments Trump is demanding.

 

Its a message board. What we do is exchange opinions here and generally support it with some light evidence. His resume is vastly inferior to anyone who has come before him. Maybe he can be a great soccer goalie without any experience too... but I wouldnt bet on it.

No it is not. POTUS is elected. SecDef is appointed and needs advice and consent of the Senate.

The biggest issue that DoD has right now is the DIB policy over the next four years. Hegseth has zero experience with that. It is going to take him at least 4 months to get up to speed on it and that is being generous. If he had experience leading a large private company/organization then he would have shown the ability to hire good people to help him with that. He just has not shown anything that suggests he could do this. This is the most important job in the US' National Defense and Trump wants to hand it over to someone that is not prepared to do it.

 

The fact that he has zero experience dealing with it. Kind of a big problem there. Yes, I would expect a lot to be done in the first 100 days of the new Admin.

I know I am not going to convince you on this because you also think that Russia has been on the verge of winning the war in Ukraine for the last three years. I do not think there is much point in discussing this further with you.
