    Running the Pentagon is not equal to being a soldier. That position should be reserved for those who have been high ranking officers or been a member of congress first. This guy is just a propaganda pusher.

    This certainly hasn't been the case historically. Only a few even served in the military.

    Just like you, I don’t know if he will be a good pick or not. But I’m not suffering from an incurable case of TDS and haven’t a need to make asinine assertions re his ability to perform the job.

    There is no requirement for the Secretary of Defense to be a “high ranking officer”. It’s a civilian position.

    In fact, the current Secretary had to get a waiver to a rule requiring they had to be out of uniform for 7 years before serving as SecDef.

    That being said, I’m sure the norm was for people to have at least run some large entity before, or at least been involved in high levels of an administration relating to defense.

    That is like saying Trump had no experience as a politician or an attorney, so he can't be president. But he was just elected again after a 4-year trial run with his successor. Hegseth is Princeton and Harvard educated. I'm sure he will have other smart people around him as well. I reject the notion he needs to be a bureaucrat to qualify for the job. The whole point is the job is no longer going to be what it has been. Trump has some pretty aggressive ideas on major disruptions to government malaise.

    What are you some things you are wanting to see get through Congress defense wise that you think will be missed with Hegseth in that seat?

    There are other tattoos as well. Did you read that he was removed from his Guard unit because of his “extremist” views? Face it, you voted for a white Christian nationalist and you’re okay with that.
