Lol, bama did this for Saban’s entire tenure. It’s also legal now, right?

I wouldn't even call that a slap on the wrist. Analysts restricted from practice and film review for 6 consecutive DAYS. Hell the headline of the article saying USC is on probation will do more damage to them than the actual penalties. Lol

Lincoln Riley won't be out of a job. They can't afford his buyout.

Plus he's a perfect fit. He's been underachieving with superior talent his entire HC career.

The article said Riley was nit suspended. These were minor issues. Meanwhile,I would take Riley here in a heartbeat, and I think he’d do great here.

I must be missing something since I don't see why Coach Riley would be fired for this.

    Like I said, I can't open 247 links though.

He's the captain of the ship. Any violation of the rules by his coaching staff is technically his responsibility. I doubt that any head coach would be fired for these violations, but a mean AD could use it as the excuse.

In this day and age of paying players, what do you have to do to be put on probation?

USC wasn't put on probation for paying players.

But, to your question, I don't know, and neither does anyone else.

  13. Note that the article simply says:
NCAA places USC football on probation for coaching violations

Football programs get placed on probation without losing head coaches. Here is a headline from 2020:
NCAA places Florida football on probation, coach Dan Mullen given show-cause over recruiting violations

NCAA has to flex its muscles where it can in an era where they have much less control over “amateur athletics”.
