It's actually hilarious if you DON'T think that's true. In fact, since there literally were people potentially threatening FEMA and/or behaving violently....to not think that's true is to deny reality. Examples are actually posted right in this thread. And I found the "safe space" comment amusing indeed, but that's not really required or requested. What should be required is a POTUS candidate who doesn't foment violence by repeatedly denigrating a government agency by telling racist lies. Somehow, though, with the ascendancy of MAGA, that most basic expectation of honesty and integrity no longer exists. Congrats, I guess.
I didnt say there were "all these"... you added that to build a strawman. No dice my man. Simply put, there were armed encounters (I listed 2 specifics in two states) and right-wing social media was ablaze with false accusations. I get the trepidation of the workers. 50M people errantly thought the 2020 election was stolen so its not hard to believe that with real examples and lots of social media a single person got concerned. Maybe not the right way to handle it but totally understandable.
Yeah okay, if it was a white guy doing the same thing in predominantly black neighborhoods I’m sure you would be so understanding.
So, wanting to know if you want to revise your "it never happened, just a right wing propaganda", to "it was just an isolated incident", to now "yeah, it happened, we hate the right so no big deal"? FEMA worker Marni Washington breaks silence on not helping Trump-voting hurricane victims | Daily Mail Online The FEMA boss who was fired after ordering volunteers not to approach homes displaying Trump signs in Florida after Hurricane Milton has insisted her edict 'was not isolated' and also happened in North Carolina. Speaking out for the first time since she was fired, Marn'i Washington accused the Federal Emergency Management Agency of 'lying' about the scandal, and making her the scapegoat of a wider practice. Washington told DailyMail.com she is seeking an attorney and is 'at risk' as a result of the backlash she's received. 'I have information that proves FEMA is lying,' she said. In a podcast appearance last night, she went further - claiming more FEMA employees are guilty of the same bias, but that she is the only one being hung out to dry.
The woman most likely made the decision to single out houses with Trump signs on her own and now that she's been fired she's going public with a fabricated story in a feeble attempt to cover her ass.
So now we are in the "she's lying" part of your rationalization. What happens if it's proven right? You'll just dismiss and move on. And some wonder why the left lost big this year...
Strawman. Cant defend your claims, so build a strawman and knock it down. I remain correct as I am most of the time.
If it's actually proven right I will admit that I was wrong like I did with my election prediction in which I refused to face the reality that the economy is almost always the determining factor in a presidential election. While I'm not going to claim with absolute certainty that it didn't happen it's extremely unlikely. Taking into account the politics of the recipient in providing disaster aid is a Republican thing and even then it's usually applied to a political jurisdiction and is never extended down to the level of the individual recipient.
Hit the tree but missed the target. "Perception" of the economy is almost always the determining factor in a presidential elections.
True, adding that the voters who helped elect Trump based their decision on a single metric, the difference in prices between 2020 and 2024 especially food and housing .
The story that she was discriminating against the residents of houses with Trump signs was very real. I have no doubt to its accuracy. What is almost certainly inaccurate is that the practice pf discriminating against Trump supporters was an official policy of FEMA. Until there is evidence from a credible source and I would not consider her one it's still a case of a single low level supervisor who had gone rogue.
She claims she has evidence and is seeking a lawyer. I'll wait until the evidence is presented before I'll say that it is widespread or isolated. Would have hoped more people would have come forward if it was happening at multiple locations.
