after opening their season with a win over So. Carolina, today the Ospreys took down GA. Tech. I was at the game, (free ticket), and UNF had a 20 point lead at one point. Their guards are pretty good and I thought they were very well coached. They travel to Athens Tuesday, so I’m interested how that one will turn out. Anyway, just thought I would share.
They already have two resume wins and might get a bid even if they have a great conference record and don't win their conference tournament.
I think a hot team perhaps like UNF can hang for a while but our depth would wear them out in the 2nd half. But, if any team shoots 3’s unconsciously, they can beat anyone on a given night.
Surprised Matt Driscoll has not gotten a better job over the years, maybe he doesn’t want one. Basically every 4-5 years has best team in the A-Sun.
It's early for such rankings to mean much, but according to kenpom . . . SC..............#76 GT...............#92 UNF.............#139 FL................#23
The state of Florida has seen some remarkable success by smaller programs in the last 15 - 20 years. I think it speaks to the quality of H.S. and JC ball in the state.
I clearly jinxed UNF. They lost to the dwags 90-77 tonight. I didn’t watch the game, but read uga shot 28 FT’s to UNF’s 6. Even with the loss though, they’ve still started the season pretty strong so far.
My son just graduated- was a manager under Coach Driscoll and loves him - the equivalent of our Gator chomp and “go Gators” is “Swoop!” with an accompanying arm motion too difficult to describe. …..and yeah , Go Ospreys - they have a great program, run a fast paced offense ( last year in the top 5 in 3 point attempts/ game for most of the season) and have some really nice kids - after home games they have kind of a receiving line and pose for pics / thank fans for coming etc….
