Heupel said Nicco is playing fwiw. Vols haven't looked great all season but they keep winning. They haven't beaten Ga since 2016 and that was in Athens so maybe. Odds makers are all in on Georgia favored by 9.5 last I looked, which seems crazy high given their recent efforts. Ga wins, it looks like Bama vs the Tex/Aggie winner,(I'd say Texas) barring some huge upset. Vols win, they replace Bama.....unless they lose to.....Vandy.
Finebaum was saying this morning that there could be an 8 way tie for the regular season title at 6-2
Has nothing to do with the playoffs, there just no way to decide who truly deserves to be in the championship. Its a farce now.
Who has the tie breaker if Texas loses to A&M? Texas, bama, uga, ole miss, Tennessee and Mizzou all end up at 2 losses? I mean it's kinda looking like one of the Texas teams is in with a win at the end of the year, the other falls into a 5 way tie.
Such a stupid move to get rid of divisions. At least the schools could earn their way to the championship game rather than it just being a popularity contest.
I didn't renew my SEC Champ tix this year that I had for 30 years. Its just not a real championship game anymore.
I don't see why they wouldn't consider the 4 team pods and rotate, so the schedule at least over time is balanced... well actually I do know why, but we all know the answer $$$ I can't wait for the 3rd year to see how this all breaks, we get to go to Bama OU and Texas A&M, then get uga Tennessee and LSu at home. Maybe only half of them will be off a bye this time around.
Four pods or divisions wouldve been the way to go but that would require an extra game with four teams. At least it would be legit.
I think the 9 conference games makes more sense for the pods and 2 division format as well. Why wouldn't the conference want the extra conference game? It makes too much sense to do it, so I'm confused why it's not being done. Maybe they're afraid the conference will kill itself and get less playoff teams? Even in the current system, the best team may end up 10-2 with only 8 conference games.
TV has to pay for that extra game so until that happens, we probably won't see any movement. But definitely two divisions and something like we had set up before is so much better. It sucks that we had LSU as our out of conference or should I say out of division Opponent every year, which made it a little bit lopsided, but with the format they have now the schedules can be very lopsided like ours is.
We know how it goes. This and next will be the only years with Bama, UTk and Georgia playing tough competition and then it will go back to protecting them at the expense of UF, Auburn and LSU or change the format after next year to keep Bama from playing Georgia. Again, when is Georgia going to play in College Station? 2037?
All that Florida has to do is beat LSU and force an Alabama-Georgia SEC championship? I am not sure how I feel about that.
This is one big reason why I hated the expansion. The two divisions and a true CCG was the best thing to happen to CFB in the last 30+ years. Greed ruined a perfect thing.
If it's OK with you, @Onewolf42 - I tweaked the thread title to make this a "prediction" thread. Thanks!
