Biden’s granddaughter Naomi ties knot in White House wedding

Yes, Beau daughter. Google and you can find Joe quote about her input in his decision to run first time. Major influence with him. Loving the life living in the WH

If you watched his speech, he was visibly happier and more energetic than he has looked in a long time. Like I've said.. the first lady doesn't wear a red outfit to vote by mistake.

Exactly. By waiting until the proverbial last minute to announce that he was withdrawing his bid for reelection Biden doomed the nominee no matter who it may been or how he or she was selected. The election was decided based on the economy. It was confirmed through the exit polls and virtually every poll since 2022. Voters considered the economy their most important issue; Biden was in the hole on the economy in virtually every poll as was Harris although her ratings weren't quite as bad as Biden's and whether their perception will turn out to accurate and based on his proposals it's extremely unlikely a majority of respondents in virtually every poll since Trump announced that he would be running for reelection expressed the opinion that the economy would be better under him than under Biden. Immigration, anti-wokeism and Harris's race and gender while they may have been additional be negatives for her were only minor issues. Similarly, reproductive rights which were a positive issue for Harris among women still took a backseat to the economy.

The only way the Democrats would have had a chance had beating Trump would have been an announcement by Biden probably no later than September of 2023 that he wouldn't be running for reelection and that it was time to pass the torch to new generation in party much like Pelosi did when she announced that she would no longer run for a leadership position in the House. That being said even then the chances are that the strongest potential Democratic candidates, Andy Beashear and Josh Shapiro probably wouldn't have run for nomination and the most likely nominee if there were open primaries Gavin Newsom had baggage of his own.

They needed Biden to speak up, simple explanation of covid and overstimulus to avoid recession, own the inflation, apologize but point out no recession, increased wages, long term trend lines. Sadly, either Biden nor the Dems, were able to complete such a straightforward approach.

It's about what you'd expect from anyone who worked that long to get to the Oval Office and was then pushed out against his will. We all saw the interviews after the debate. He clearly did not want to drop out and was becoming angry about people suggesting he should. Not that any of this changed anything.

I was amazed she didn't try to distance herself from Biden. I admire her loyalty to him, but she could have separated herself on some of the issues.

The smart voters would know his policies would be Status Que... business as usual. I don't think you could hide the Dem policies with any single Dem.

seems like he agrees with me. dems tried twice to push a candidate that wasn't wanted and both times gave us djt. thanks dems, thanks Biden, this is your legacy

Carville: Harris had ‘every advantage’ in the race

Carville also pointed to President Biden’s insistence on staying in the race as a mistake that deprived talented young politicians the chance to move up and generate real excitement. Having a primary process, Carville said, would have served the party well.

“If we would have had this process, we’d have had gone through it, and we would have had this mega level of talent that exists, and all of these people would have been different. It would have been energetic. It would have created a sense of real excitement,” Carville said.
“Biden, he just blocked all that from happening,” he added.

With Harris, Carville said, Democrats “flubbed it” on delivering change to a country where approximately two-thirds of its citizens say they think they’re on the wrong track. The Harris campaign, according to Carville, failed to offer a compelling economic message that differed from the status quo. “If the country wants something different, you try to give the country something different,” he said.

Instead, Carville said, Democrats responded by reasoning that, “We are just not going to give in to them. But maybe the odiousness of [President-elect] Trump combined with the Dobbs decision, we can overcome it.” “Well, we didn’t overcome it,” he added.

On the two largest issues, she was sort of stuck. As border czar, she couldn't distance herself from Biden's policy, because she was the chief architect. On the economy and inflation, if she admits he did something wrong there, it would have been too easy for Trump to turn that into validation. She did distance herself somewhat with the food price controls, which was just an inexplicably horrible strategical move. In essence, she was saying yes there's a major problem with food price inflation and we're going to fix it with Soviet style price controls. And the kicker... food prices have stabilized. No need for drastic measures like price controls to be discussed.

Her campaign was such a train wreck that if she had attempted to distance herself from Biden more, she would have made things even worse for herself.

Pretty much agree with all this. I don't remember the democrat primary that clearly from 2020 but who was typically getting votes right behind Biden? That is the person they should have gone back to.
