Two generic thoughts on Mia and Keagan to remember. First Keagan was coming off arm surgery and she was not 100% the entire season. She was getting there right at the end of the season thus her performances pitching wise were getting back to where in theory she was before her throwing arm surgery. I would think going into this season we will have the potential to see her finally at 100%. Second on Mia. She was coming of a leg injury where it basically completely destroyed her leg in summer ball over a 1 year before getting into UF to her college career. So I can imagine it would take some time to get that back to a normal for her in terms of using that leg again as well as overall confidence in herself again. But as people have said she needs to translate this fall success into spring success so I hope some good things happen early on in the season so that we can see that level of consistency that is needed for any potential everyday fielder. I tend to give a little bit a of cushion towards kids coming off significant injuries and give them an opportunity to get back to where they were pre injury wise.
Hannah tell us in her own words that CTW has built a legacy, character building, winning softball program at the University of Florida. CTW holds high standards in his recruitment requirements. He recruits extremely talented players, who are high in character and academic achievers. The record speaks for itself.
Did anyone go who can recap how we got from 5 (I think) after the sixth inning, up to 14 at games end?
Here is another good video on Francesca Enea. Francesca Enea | Gators Softball | 2024 Florida Hall of Fame
Francesca is a product of CTW’s program and demonstrates the “Gator Way’ theme, which is the center of his program. She supports and develops this attitude in today’s players as his assistant coach. You can’t help but love her for everything she has brought and continues to bring to this program on and off the field. She is always a delight to talk to.
It would be helpful and appreciated if someone can give us (out of staters) a team and possible a player summary for the entire game, helping us, the die hard softball fans, to get a feel on how this team is developing as players and as a team.
I wasn't aware of the arm injury for Keagen. I knew she had dealt with the compartment syndrome issue but didn't know there was more. I don't think Ava was 100% either.
I thought she was recovering from leg issues. I may be mistaken but that’s what CTW and the training staff worked on last Fall. She responded very well to their recovery program for her. This was my understanding.
I will post the play by inning on Thurs nights final game for the fall season. Looking forward to this WBB an Volleyball. I used to look forward Football until the last 2 years.
Unfortunately UF athletically is going through a terrible time right now. Thank goodness for Walton, O'Sullivan, Rowland, Holloway and Wise. These coaches represent what Florida athletics is all about.
From Friday vs UCF. Oxley threw 4 1 hit innings. Looked great. Hammock threw 2 innings, I think. Rothrock threw 1 inning. Miller threw 2/3rds of an inning, and Brown the last 1 and 1/3 innings. Liv might have thrown 1 and 2/3rds? Not sure. I left before the last inning but I read somewhere that Townsen hit a 2 run double in the top of the 10th. Falby had a RBI double. And possibly Shumaker with a SAC fly and Otis with a RBI single. AK 47 also a double off of the top of the left center wall during the game.
Somebody wrote about firing coaches for performance or behavior. If firing is inevitable, do it ASAP. The same would apply to other Athletic Department management or staff. Unless there is indisputable proof of complete innocence (and this would require an unlikely conspiracy) retention or delayed termination will only hurt the University and Athletic Department’s reputation, a reputation already sullied by the excuse the interim president doesn’t want to act. Perhaps it’s time to clean house by terminating coaches with unacceptable behavior or performance, Athletic Department management and an interim President who fails to act in the best interest of the University. That is just my opinion. What’s yours.
There are new rules protecting the accused from losing their spot on the team, be it coach or player, while a Title IX claim is being investigated. Thanks to DuvalGator for the info. https://www.perplexity.ai/search/can-a-university-suspend-a-coa-zaixeUoLRVaUoLTOk5QRXg
So let's remember this can go both ways, like the Duke Lacrosse team who were treated terribly because the admins jumped to a conclusion. Duke settled with 3 LAX players for 20 million each.
The actions of the University, especially if involving women, could affect its reputation and impact softball recruiting. Anyhow, this is all I have to say on the subject and apologize if this was off topic.
