When I first came to Gainesville the "Mexican" food options were Burrito Bros and Ashley's Pub. After spending the previous nine months in Albuquerque and Austin, Texas I would have to say that what we call Mexican food options were not that good. Way better in the Southwest. Tex-Mex really isn't Mexican food, though. Real Mexican food is a great cuisine like Italian. It varies wildly from region to region. It is not one thing.

But real Mexican food is awesome. Won't find it in Gainesville except on occasion at my dinner table.

There are some dishes at La Tienda that are in the style of true Mexican cuisine but really not that well prepared.

I agree. Maybe I'll get some good Mexican take out from a pretty real deal local spot in three days when I WATCH SOME GATOR BASKETBALL!!

    Edit to add: THREE DAYS!

Come to Polk, Hillsborough or Orange counties. Gets pretty authentic here as far as Latin and Caribbean food goes.

    Gatorade needs to pony up.

Perfect fit, and one word only.

I can still see Cade driving around campus in his baby blue Studebaker with a pair of jumbo felt dice hanging from his rear view mirror.

I was there at the same time, but never ate there as I had an Environmental Sciences class early on and discussed all of the Health Dept violations BB had. Disgusting.

They declared bankruptcy to avoid the massive legal actions what were coming. They had a packaging flaw that allowed their knee, shoulder and hip implants to be exposed to oxygen. This damaged the "plastic" (polymer) portion of the implant. There is evidence that at some point the company was aware. My wife had two of those in her knees and had one of them replaced earlier this year. The orthopod told me when he removed them, they just fell out. She had started a lawsuit against ExactTech as well. I am sure their big wigs will still pocket their millions while a thousand plus patients have needed revision surgery. Just saving the naming rights would have paid for a lot of those awards. Pizzes me off to think of it. The only way to hurt a corporation is via dollars, but I am sure my wife would not have agreed to a third knee replacement for a million dollars, let alone the chump change she will get (if any).

I wonder how many millions of dollars the C-suite gave themselves in bonuses after it was revealed the artificial joints were defective.

My mom has had 2 hip replacements and one leg is at least an inch shorter than the other. No idea if "Fairlyclosetech" was involved in her surgeries, but this was the first thing that came to mind!

It would never work. Our coaches would stay on the court during the halftime shows.

That’s a surgeon issue - not the product.

I worked there many years and have been gone for even longer now. Still have friends that work there.

They’ve gone thru many layoffs already. The numbers I’ve been told - the naming right really isn’t a lot of $$ in comparison to a lot of others. Still given the current situation maybe they wouldn’t spend that money to retain the rights. I believe they are in a multi year deal for the name, but not sure when it expires.

Not sure how it will all shake out but seems like there probably won’t be a happy ending there. It’s a shame - was a great place to work, the people and the management when I was there were fantastic.

Let's bring in Dave Mays Automotive. I know I want to hear that commercial 5000 times this season.

Very hot. Business climate is good now. We'll see if blanket tariffs improve it. Sry if that is too hot.

You do know that tariffs are paid by the importer and then passed onto the consumer. The exporting country doesn't pay it. They drive up costs and are inflationary.

Look, don't want to get in trouble here... Treading lightly but I always thought tariffs were considered a very dumb thing to do since Adam Smith circa eighteenth century - at least for economic reasons. More advanced minds than mine have entered the fray I suppose. So yes Gatorlurker, we are of the same opinion.
