I believe if Napier gets blown out again in the next 2 games, he’s done. I don’t care about the letter of support, Idon’t think Stricklin can hold it together if there’s more blowouts. That would mean his entire theme—that the kids play hard for him, was baseless.
He retired meaning he didn't want the job in the first place. Whoever's in charge of finding a president is who needs to be talked to.
If we don't get some quarterback play, which is not going to come from warner, that's what's about to happen. I think gold may be a bigger problem for him, but there's nobody in charge to make that decision.
lots of people, politics and layers of administration to go through and ultimately the governor will have to approve the choice. Plus, you have to identify the best candidates, who may not be interested. And they have to deal with how to properly leave their current university. sorry but you just aren’t able to rush out and fill the damn job. That’s beyond naive. Besides, I disagree completely with the assumption that Fuchs is keeping us from replacing Billy. That’s just unfounded speculation, like so much of the content on this board
Bingo. In other words, if he cared a whit about Florida Athletics he would act and completely clean house at the UAA. What would they be able to do to him if "they" didn't like it?
Agree. BUT a proven play caller may get his attention. This is not a job you want to lose. You will never get a better one. Adapt or go the path of Muschamp, Mac, Mullen and Zook. Regardless, Golden has ended this discussion for the time being, even more so than the Stricklin "vote of confidence".
I would imagine there are people that have opinions that matter and they want the new president to fill out all these new coaches because we are a basketball coach too I guess
Maybe they all have a lot of different opinions and there's nobody in control that can make the final decision. I'm not sure they're letting fuch make that decision. Perhaps there are some powerful people that want to fire him yesterday and the others that are saying they don't want to pay the money until they have a new president and a new athletic Director.
I multi-task every day at my job. Is it that difficult for Stricklin to manage two situations at the same time? Ooops, check that....I forgot we are talking about an administrator who was proud of making a "great" deal with UF's worst coach in history.
Still on campus teaching; it was easy to put him back in. And for someone who seemingly retired because he didn’t want the job, he leaped pretty quickly to jump back in. Again, all of this are just my own thoughts and speculation.
We need administrators overseeing sports who genuinely want to make Florida great again. I have zero faith in this current UAA. Stricklin should be fired with cause due to his scandalous hires.
That goes for pretty much anyone on that platform. Whether it be sports or political fanboys. The whole thing reeks of bots and cringe.
It's looking that way, although I heard we flipped some QB from FSU, but, I haven't seen that news anywhere.
I guess we can hope, but I don't see this as a likely or substantive change. It reminds me so much of how insistent people were (and some still are) that Muschamp would be a great head coach "if only" he'd get a good OC and leave them alone. It's just never as simple as a singular piece. After two head coaching attempts and multiple OCs all resulting in eerily similar results, Muschamp is who he is and can't help but influence the offensive philosophy, preparation, and playcalling directly or indirectly, no matter what he says. Any assumption that Billy at this point would become the sort of CEO who could delegate and turn over that much of the offense to anyone else doesn't seemed based on anything other than a wish. His background as a player and coach have all been directly and intimately related to the running of offenses, and I have a very hard time seeing him actually stepping back. So if he's retained, I think everyone should accept it will always be with him directly and intimately involved in, if not outright running, the offense. And again, that's regardless of who or how many people receive a coordinator's title.
The only thing that will force a change now is if the ‘Bulls’ demand it at seasons end, imho. Their $$$$$ carry a big stick. Apparently they’re now being pressed to flood the market with Gator buck$ in an attempt to salvage recruiting this cycle. Just not convinced that’s even possible, at this point.
