    Blind homerism.

Thank you. It’s unfortunate that so many here will laugh this off and want Billyfired simply because their impatience blinds them to the improvements we’re seeing. He inherited a train wreck - turning it around in a way that’s sustainable sometimes takes more time than people realize

How long should we be willing to wait, Skink? 10 years? 20? It might take that long for Napier to manage better than a .500 season.

Ummmm.... 4 years? In our failed run of coaches post-Urban, no coach made it more than 4. I don't see why it would be any different with Napier.

No of course not. It all depends upon seeing continued improvement — but I’d say 4 years to get things turned around. Given another ridiculous schedule next year, I’d say 8 wins would be the bar he would need to clear

The coach of the team apparently would disagree with your effort comments. But BN doesn't know what he is talking about ever so take it with a grain of salt.

Zook was infamous for "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory," and those late losses after being up were considered a major strike against him, rather than a positive of near upsets or encouragement that kids played hard for him regardless.

Clearly. Most would be over the moon right now for a win loss record that got Zook fired.

Especially with Zook’s recruiting classes. Despite any doubt of his coaching ability, you always had hope with those recruiting classes. And I credit Ron Zook a lot for our 2006 title. He left the program in pretty damn good shape. The cupboard wasn’t bare.

Yep, there were lots of differences with all of them.

Yes, but the common denominator amongst all those differences was they all had winning seasons. This guy hasn’t had 1 yet. They all DESERVED a 4th year, he has done nothing to warrant a 4th year. He’s just getting one because of all the outside crap happening.

Not sure if any any of them really deserved a 4th or not, to be honest. Extenuating circumstances definitely play a role in the coaching carousel, and this year/next year seems to be no different.

I like the fact that we know who our coach is going to be next season. I certainly wish the circumstances were different. All I'm doing now is hoping we get some of our players back, and we get back to at least to how we were playing before the rash of injuries happened. If that's the case and we look competent again in our next two and then beat FSU then the season will have ended pretty much the way it was supposed to go.

As an optimist, if we do get a lot of players back this week (including DJ) and look pretty competent against LSU/Ole Miss and beat FSU, I'll hold to my theory that the team "bought in" after week 4 and that CBN finally got things turned around. I'll also probably look at the fact that 70% of our NIL money is being spent on FR/So. this year, so next year the bulk of our force will be So./Jrs. Then with all of the inevitable off-season talk, overhyping transfers, etc., I'll be super optimistic about next year and probably predict a 8 or 9 win season. Whether CBN deserves to be here or not, I'll be rooting my ass off for him and the team for the rest of this season and next.

And although the above scenario isn't very likely, it would be the best thing that could happen for the Gators, so we should all be cheering for it.

Zook also smoked Saban in his corndog championship season for his Saban's only loss that year, and for his last game, the fighting zookers renamed bobby bowden field

I’m not sure I agree it was a train wreck. We had one bad losing season prior to Billy because Mullen checked out. However, if it was a train wreck, Stricklin must be held partly responsible because he hired Mullen.

In todays press conference, Asked if he considered playing Clay Millen on Saturday, Napier says "no...it wasn't necessary Aidan just as much as in general I think we can play better around him...You can only get so many people ready to play."

Can only get so many people to play? So, we could get both Mertz and Lagway not just ready to play but have both play in every game but cannot get a second qb ready now just in case? What happens if Warner gets hurt? We have no qb?
    Make it make sense! Lol

Of course, the perceived "improvement" this season is subjective. Games against UM and TAMU (with healthy QB) would suggest otherwise. Largest loss career-to-date against Texas would as well. But what doesn't lie is the recruiting and the recruiting has fallen off drastically, to depths I would have never imagined were possible at UF. We can argue about whether or not the team is moving in the right direction on the field, but the recruiting is most definitely headed in the wrong direction. In the SEC, you have to recruit depth and talent. So even if there was some minor on field improvement (again, that's very subjective), the recruiting mess stands in the way of longevity for any improvement.

I believe Florida would have most likely lost the Georgia game with Lagway but not necessarily because of anything by Napier. The fact of the matter was Florida did not have a very consistent offense with Lagway and UGA had a consistent offense; they were just turning the ball over. By my count with Lagway in the game, Florida was outgained 182 yards to 107 yards. Lagway only completed 2 passes and was on pace to throw for about 125 yards if he played the whole game. It is extremely difficult to win games like that.
