It looks like it is possible for 6 SEC teams to finish 6-2 and tied for first. That would be great! Can't wait for the tiebreakers. How do y'all think the SEC standings will finish? Who goes to the SEC Championship game?
In the event of a tie between teams competing for a place in the Conference championship game, the following procedures will be used in descending order until the tie is broken Head-to-head competition among the tied teams Record versus all common Conference opponents among the tied teams Record against highest (best) placed common Conference opponent in the Conference standings, and proceeding through the Conference standings among the tied teams Cumulative Conference winning percentage of all Conference opponents among the tied teams Capped relative total scoring margin versus all Conference opponents among the tied teams Random draw of the tied teams
Either Texas or TAMU is going to finish with one loss. Looks like it'll be Texas/TAMU winner versus Alabama in the SECCG.
I'm assuming Tennessee will lose to UGA, but I now realize that's a big assumption. Carson Beck has been atrocious for most of the year. With the game being in Athens though, I'd expect UGA to win.
What if Longhorns beat Aggies and Arkansas or Kentucky "rise up" and beat the Longhorns. And of course UGA beats the Vols. Everybody is 6-2.
As poorly as uga has played, with the exception of one half against Bama, I don't think they beat Tennessee. Georgia is nothing like they have been in the past five plus years. They struggled against us and got clubbed by Ole Miss.
This is why the SEC championship is ridiculous. The way they have formatted the league now. Eenie Meenie Miny Moe seems like the best solution
And what happens if the "winner" of a tie breaker loses in the SECCG only to get knocked out of the playoffs because of that loss, while they team left our of the championship game makes it? Seems like a huge disincentive to make the SECCG and potentially risk the playoffs.
Its just a dumb way to run things. I guesz they want to collect the money though. Not a real chamionship though. It reminds me of auburn getting shafted in 04 and they want to run that crap back on a yearing basis. Maybe they should just vote a champions before bowls are played like the old days.
There are 8 teams with 1 or 2 SEC losses. If UGA beats Tennessee and the winner of the Texas-aTm game is upset before that game, couldn't we have an 8-way tie for first between teams with 6-2 SEC records?
Meaningless game sorta because its very likely the best team doesn't get in, possibly neither of the two best. Reminds me of 73 bama and their fake national championship.
The bigger tournament is hurting the conferences(championship). Maybe that’s not so unintended. Hope they can think of a good way to keep it.
No. 6 is the tiebreaker which states the determination will be decided by which team’s assistant equipment manager can eat the most corn dogs in a 2 hour period. As an incentive, the winning assistant manager will win one night in Baton Rouge, the corn dog capital of the free world.
this site has the scenarios -- to be honest, this year, your better off not making the SEC championship and finishing 3rd mred's SEC FB Standings Generator
