I just watched Dr. Strangelove for the first time a few days ago and it was kind of funny to see how 60 years later we still have an idiot babbling about Fluoride in the water supply. While it's true Fluoride isn't safe in high doses, the amount that some cities put in the water supply has an overall health benefit, and as we learned in Flint, prevents pipe corrosion from actually poisoning the water. But it was striking how much the nut job Trump wants to put in charge of health mirrors the nut job in the movie.

Couple of Quotes here (slightly edited to not give it away completely), who said it, RFK or General Ripper?.

"Fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous plot we have ever had to face."

"Do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk... ice cream ... children's ice cream."

“Fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders, and thyroid disease”

I can remember way back when i was a boy the John Birch Society was big upset when fluoridating water was becoming a thing. They put out some outrageous pamphlets calling it a communist plot.

Despite the fluoride argument, can someone explain to me why we allow over 3000 food additives while Europe only allows 300?
And why does American company Kellogg have 18 additives in their Fruit Loops cereal while Canada only allows just 3?
Something is clearly off at the FDA.

"Kellogg had pledged back in 2015 to remove artificial dyes from its foods by 2018. But that hasn’t happened, despite the company making changes
to its formulas in other countries—coloring Froot Loops in Canada with concentrated carrot juice, watermelon juice, and blueberry juice, for example—where artificial colors are more tightly regulated.

Artificial food dye is an additive used to color a product. “The dye is artificial if it originates from a nonfood source,” explains Jamie Alan, PhD, an associate professor of pharmacology and toxicology at Michigan State University. “For example, red dye No. 40 is made from petroleum products.”
Blue No.1 and Red No.3 are also made from petroleum.

By comparison, natural food dyes “are those that are extracted from plants or animal tissues,” such as beet juice for red coloring and spirulina, an algae, for blue, says Francisco Diez-Gonzalez, PhD, professor and director of the Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia.
Six out of seven of these dyes were approved by the FDA by 1931, and many have not been meaningfully reviewed for safety by the agency in decades,” Benesh says.

Kellogg is under fire for using artificial food dyes. Here’s how they may affect your health and where else to find them

A: Peter Sellers is by far the most underrated genius actor of all time.

B: The movie has always been prescient. Glad you have been exposed.

C: Today’s fiction is tomorrow’s reality. Hamdmaid’s Tale barreling hard.

D: You can’t fight in here. This is the war room!

It's going to get worse, a lot worse, when the regulatory agencies that have been protecting us for years are gutted...FDA, EPA, NHTSA, etc.

    Top of the ridge
I do not want those agencies gutted…. But I do feel it’s past time to trim them back and put guardrails on their authority.
The EPA has fined people for ridiculously stupid minor things. They have expanded their reach far far to far and it needs to be trimmed back. Same with the ATF. The FDA … at some point it’s basically just graft. We allow 3000 plus food additives when most of the civilized world allows 1/10 of that. We promote drugs to kids for everything from a bad mood or lack of concentration. Here take a pill.
All of these agencies have become more about money and power than they have about true protection.

Exactly ... as pointed out above, Kennedy wants European style regulations on food .... Kennedy will be fired by this administration before the ink dries on his proposed regulation list...

Sorry, it’s not always a binary argument of this or that.
The pendulum has swung too far. Now it’s time to course correct. We will see if we overcompensate

    Lapado to replace Fauci.

Granted, it would be hard for Trump. He loves Fauci.
