To face BYU for a CFP appearance. Not sure about the culture at Colorado though. Is Prime building that program the right way?
He took a 1 win football team and has them ranked in the top 20 in November of his 2nd season. What do you think?
I was being jocular. How many other coaches took over a 1 win program and had them in the Top 20 the 2nd season? I bet it's rare.
Going to be the same as if FSU would have made the playoff last year. They will get exposed if they make it.
I know a coach who is taking a mostly winning program and is going to have 3 losing seasons in a row. He also can't win games against any decent teams.
Any team that wins the Big 12 and gets to the playoff is going to get exposed. The point is that Prime is a great coach and took a doormat and has them on the cusp of an auto playoff bid in his 2nd year.
It’s really not an easy thing to do. Colorado has been a doormat for a long time. They do not have a tradition like Florida and here he has them within striking distance of the playoffs. Prime would clean up Florida recruiting. NIL would be likely better than any other school. I can dream.
Considering almost the entire team was replaced and he worked the portal over, to get here is a coaching accomplishment. In 2 years.
If only Napier had a son at qb who is pretty good, and we played in a weak ass conference like the Big12, and only had one ranked team we lost to, we might be headed to the conference championship too! Colorado has zero wins against a top 20 program. I think what Florida fans want is an easy schedule like IN and CO. A schedule where you don’t have to worry about depth or injuries or preparing for a quality/physical opponent, or tough road game.
both Hunter and his son will be gone. I don’t think he stays at Colorado. Though he does have a second son on the team, I’m not sure if he is out of eligibility or still playing after this year.
His name alone attracts talent, it also helps that his son has been groomed into a star college QB. He also assembled a very experienced staff of both former NFL'ers and those from the college ranks. He is showing himself to be a good CEO. If they were to get exposed or not, does not really matter. I would rather be 10-2 and get exposed by Ole Miss in a single game, than go 4-5 and get exposed every week, playing for nothing at the end of the season.
Deion does run a pro style offense with an awesome QB and and even more awesome 2 way player who should win the Heisman Travis Hunter. He has done way better than I thought he would do. I talked to a former Gator player last week who knows Deion very well, and he does not think Deion will coach much past win his youngest son graduates.
Deion is a great marketer and personality but his coaching is as good as his tackling was in the NFL.
