Again...our average star rating is top 15. And they won't take a bunch of bad players to reach top 30....that's nonsense
That is not a predictor of an end class. You cannot compare a 90.38 class at 11 players to a filled out 22 player class at 89.43. If they had 11 only, those 11 would be rated higher than ours most likely. We are not leading with a bunch of highly rated kids, so unless we get highly unlikely flips, we are going to be in the 25 to 35 range, which is far below any coach we have had and is far below the standard CBN set for himself.
Florida Expected to Use Money Saved For Napier Buyout on NIL Sounds like that is what's going to happen? Other programs have been successful at throwing money at recruits and getting flips. Why not us?
Lol, our class should largely fill out with comparable talent to what is there now. The only question is how many high school vs portal. If they stop at 18 then that will hurt the ranking(although if that is offset in quality portal we are better off). If they opt to go over 20 the class ranking will be fine
I Would feel much better if I were as confident as you seem to feel about closing out this class. I am concerned about all of: the quality of players that will come, the defections that can occur, and the NIL to fund the type of players we need. Certainly Lagway's deal will have to be re-negotiated and will soak up a lot of our NIL. There is a big difference between a potential 5 stars NIL and the best deep ball passer in NCAA.
They are only ranking classes by HS right now because the portal isn't open. They will be forced to go to the portal this year, but we will lose some too.
Sure, so will every team in the country. Closing strong would help a lot, but at least the staff can now proceed knowing they are back
Lagway isn't a mercenary. We will lose guys, we will gain guys....but keeping the staff will keep a lot of the roster. I'm not saying we kill it closing the class out....but I'm confident it will remain solid quality
Dude! You need to get up to speed here? We only have 3-4 Commits in mid November and all of them are saying they are taking visits. And 2 of the 4 commits have openly said... UF fans and alumni are TOXIC to the team...
How he chose UF would make me think he sticks with UF, but he has to be the hottest commodity in the NCAA if he continues on the trajectory.
The amount of negativity in our fan base is nauseating. There is difference between complaining and wishing the team loses out so that a coach can be fired. The team is giving its all and so is the staff. I hope everyone can Respect the effort while still holding onto their vision for the program. The 247 board is a mental asylum.
Our fan base is no different than any other with a team and program in a similar situation. What is wrong with wanting to have a winning program and demanding the best out of our coaches for what they are being paid? Billy has had 2+ years to right the ship and he MAY have done it. It remains to be seen. To blame our poor recruiting on whining fans is absurd. Auburn has a top 10 recruiting class and I’m sure their fans are not happy with their record or coach.
Wanting is usually associated with being able to do something about it. If a person cannot impact the outcome then they should shut up instead of spewing negativity. Our fans - most of them don’t contribute to NIL, and think shouting on a message board is going to help change the coach. Standing on university avenue with a fire Billy placard might be more effective
My thought process was with no University President, the emerging situation with the mens B-ball program, and then coaching unknows due to the football expanded playoffs, and the resulting negative impacts it would have on recruiting. Striklin had no choice but to table the issues with Napier, to be able to deal with the other issues...particularly when the University lacks a administrative figure head currently.....Basically making the best of a bad situation. Does it help recuiting.....I guess, but all the real damage has already been done in as far as kids getting the negative recruiting from rival programs. Billy lucked out, and got himself some additional time to maybe change minds and hearts.
Have you ever considered that those you perceive as negative are the ones that feel the worst for the players who give their all? The players are the real Gators. The extremely overpaid, underperforming staff are mercenaries. Urban was 100% a mercenary, but he performed and knew what was expected. CBN's plan to become a 500 team in year 4 is not what the players or fans signed up for. Negative recruiting started from day 1. It didn't arise in year 3 with fan dissatisfaction. Losing creates what is most effectively dissuading recruits.
