The solution is pretty simple. Give anyone here already thats a productive, law abiding non criminal an easy path to citizenship. Deport anyone else as you encounter them. If there is an easy path to being a citizen then those who really want it will find the designated places to go through the process. The others are probably not here for good reasons. Yes we need a strong, secure border. It has little to do with Mexicans IMO, its the military aged young men with bad intentions from around the world that are able to sneak in that we need it for. Mass deportation will be expensive and not productive. You'll force good people to start making bad decisions. Its been tried before and it doesn't work. Its true that nobody wants to do the jobs they do. Just the facts.
I can't generalize, but from what I've seen, while there are a lot of white guys - one or two men operations - mowing yards here in Central Florida, I'd say 75% are Hispanic, with a higher percentage for large mowing operations. Prevailing wisdom - not always right, granted - is that immigrants, seeking to get a foothold in America, do most of the menial labor that blacks once did - were forced to do - in bygone eras. So, I don't see City's comments as racist. I think getting rid of all or even most illegal aliens is a terrible and ultimately unworkable idea. I do, however, think getting rid of all the illegals who are committing crimes, either alone or as part of gangs, need to go ASAP. Furthermore, I'd like to see the bulk of funding for the immigration issue go (a) for border agents to stem the tide of illegals and (b) to hire hundreds more judges to hear legitimate asylum claims. My fervent wish is that Trump devises a sensible plan to address these issues and doesn't politicize it just to placate the masses who haven't thought things through.
Trump and plan should never be in the same sentence. This would never work financially or strategically. Are you going to go into ethnic neighborhoods and start asking for ID from everyone that you see?
FIFY: "We {sic} getting ready to MAKE AMERICA GREAT WHITE AGAIN” if you like it or not, terrible grammar and all."

It’s not just the federal resources, They can definitely embolden the Joe Arpaio types. AZ has a dem Governor so that can probably he mitigated. But TX will probably be a freak-show.
Georgia and Alabama already showed us that these kinds of things cost the state billions of dollars, but we still did it in Florida knowing what would happen. Humans aren't rational actors.
It's quite telling that a president-elect who campaigned on the promise of the largest deportation ever received a higher share of the Hispanic vote than any Republican candidate for POTUS ever has. They know what happened and they are not okay with it.
My plan: Go after Big Ag first - raid their fields and warehouses for illegals. Deport them. Then raid all major restaurant chain backshops and deport all those illegal dishwashers and janitors. Next raid all major hotel chains and deport all illegal maids, janitors and food workers. Finally raid all major construction company worksites and deport all illegal roofers, sod layers and concrete workers. Then impose heavy fines on companies that hired them. That’ll fix problem right quick.
I actually agree with this. Focus on securing the boarder and stopping the the flow of illegal immigrants coming in . Restart remain in Mexico as a starter. After we stymie the flow ( it will never completely stop) then focus on removing the bad apples, those that haven’t shown up for court dates, those that have arrest warrants and or criminal history. Remove them. But casting a wide net .. no go.
He really has 2 years to make a splashy comprehensive immigration law. Absent being a bipartisan solution, it will get repealed by some future Congress. Prediction 1: Congress will be focused on taxes with 2025 sunset. Prediction 2: The only thing that could happen is a challenge to birthright citizenship and SCOTUS reinterpreting the 14th amendment. Prediction 3: In 2 years the R’s will be defending the House and Senate, likely a turn over and we’re back into a loop.
I agree, but the most important step is to secure the border/stop the benefit of coming, then amnesty. But I'm pretty sure you are in agreement.
Hispanic voters like most other voters that cast their votes for Trump were motivated by the economy not immigration. Previously mentioned in another thread, I saw an interview with a Mexican-American couple that voted for Trump. They actually supported his proposal for mass deportation since they apparently fell for his narrative that the illegal immigrants deported by are criminals/bad people. The irony is that they originally entered the US illegally from Mexico and were beneficiaries of the amnesty provision of the Immigration Reform Act signed into law by Reagan in 1986. What they apparently fail to realize that the overwhelming majority of illegals that will be deported by Trump aren't criminals but people who were in the same position as themselves 38 years ago, i.e. otherwise law abiding immigrants who came to the US for economic reasons.
From a very cynical viewpoint, the whole immigration issue is about demonizing one group of people for political gain and power. The more inhumane the policy becomes, separating children, internment camps, etc. the more Democrats will become the moral voice, which is then perceived as wanting open borders. The border bill will never be passed as that provides solutions, not perfect, but progress. More cynically, this is what Trump wants because it diverts attention from what he will really be after, disassembling agencies that are in place to protect Americans health and welfare, like FDA, EPA, etc. for the sake of the Elon Musk's of the world like Russia's oligarchs. And finding ways to graft the govt. He has no guardrail this time and he really has no conscience. America is just an object to him.
