So the last two elections I wrote a protest vote in.
    Kasich in 2020.
    Haley in 2024.

I assume these votes have to be legally tabulated.

Is that data publicly available and can parties use those metrics for future use?

For Instance if they see a lot of Halley votes written in do that use that as incentive to push her next time?

I understand that in many states they have to be legally registered to receive official votes, but are they tabulated for the record anyway?

Any civics experts have the answer or a link?

I expect Haley will run ... and face Vance and others in the primaries. Not sure who the DNC will "hand pick" as their candidate.

It's definitely publicly available because I always think back to when they would announce the write ins for Mickey Mouse in the past

Pretty sure that they are. If you recall, in 2016 "Deez Nuts" finished 3rd in the popular vote for the presidential election.

Back in the day it was published in a thing called a “local newspaper.” In 1992 a strapping young Pug named Moo Goo the Magnificent received exactly one vote and won me a bunch of money from doubters when his name was listed in The Coalfield Progress.

    My bad Al!

Historically, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Mickey Mouse have fared the best in presidential elections as write- in options.

Just a guess the write in votes would be tabulated but they would be meaningless and I'm not referring to the small number. When we vote in a presidential election we're not actually voting for the named candidate but to a slate of electors committed to the candidate. Unless there was a slate of electors committed to Nikki Haley the vote would be meaningless although I guess considering that the vote wouldn't matter anyway based on the extremely small number of votes for her it's perfectly valid as a protest. I'm assuming that when the state finishes counting the votes there is a category for "other" which would include your vote for Haley.

Dang, I should have written in Joe Walsh for prez …. the James Gang and Eagles Joe Walsh, not the guy that ran in 2020.

Moo Goo had 13 ready to go bruv (Virginia.) He was “prolific.” Did we formally register? We did not. I wasn’t feeling strong about his ability to draw 2.5M votes.

FTR, at work, we made a video and his main plank was “terrierism.” Gotta expel them all, they were ruining Couch Surfing for the rest of us with all their hustling and willingness to adapt.

    Funny-not-funny how a 25 year-old joke is almost too spot-on.

Those seem to be names on the ballot.

My curiosity is just in if a ground swell could be detected from such info.
