Alaska Ballot 2 to repeal top 4 ranked choice voting and open primaries has a 1.6% lead with 70% of the vote in.

Yes - 125,489 - 50.8%
No - 121,367 - 49.2%

This was discussed quite a bit after the 2022 midterms to try to bring ranked choice voting to the lower 48. I hope it never gets off the ground.

In 2022, top 4 ranked choice voting pitted 2 republicans, Nick Begich and Sarah Palin, against 1 democrat, Mary Peltola. Neither republican would withdraw so ranked choice sent the democrat to the US House for 2 years as Begich and Palin had a split republican vote.

While it will take Alaska a while to wade through the ranked choice voting BS, Alaska will likely send Begich to the US House this year. Sarah Palin did not run in 2024. I think Peltola was the only democrat to ever represent Alaska. It'll be a house pick up for the republicans, not that it should ever have been a democrat seat.

I also like that ballot 2 will end open primaries in Alaska. I don't like voters of other parties crossing over to try to screw up the other party primary.
