I think there was lineup changes the 2nd game. But the circle was fantastic all the way around. And Mia could be poised for a huge year.
From what I've read, Mia Williams was the leader of last year's freshman class as far as working hard, showing up early, staying late and just dedicated to the program. She put so much pressure on herself, she had the nagging injury and never relaxed last year. I think this year she's more comfortable in her own skin and just letting her talent shine through. I wish nothing but the best for this long time legacy Gator commit.
I haven’t seen too many people suggest that she can’t play. Not in the few weeks you’ve been around anyway.
Last season, there was a lot of questioning Walton’s decision to leave Mia in the lineup. To be fair, she batted .164 on the year, so this was not without reason. I don’t think any of us can know for sure how she will play in the spring, but this fall explosion suggests that she at least deserves a shot.
That person has only been here for a few weeks. Are they talking about things people said last year? I didn’t think we had many great options for replacements last year and thought letting her cut her teeth as a freshman was the right move. This year, I think she’s gotta step it up in the field and at the plate or there’s gonna be some challengers nipping at her heels. I do think she’s capable, and she appears to be on fire at the plate right now. She muffed a grounder in her breadbasket at the only fall ball game I attended, so I don’t think asking about her fielding is out of line either. I haven’t seen anyone calling for her head this year. I pushed back on the notion that she was on equal footing defensively with Skylar last year because they had the same number of errors, but I was in no way, shape, or form writing her off.
I have been around for 4 years. I was kath I was Cathybocala for years and changed my e mail address and had to start over when I could not log back in. I was here for years and on the baseball commentary as well. I got off another forum as I didn't enjoy bashing young women . The entire infield has errors so far this season. I was just commenting Mia has been unbelievable so far and some just can't accept that ...like focusing on missing something in her breadbasket.lol. well I'm sure her 7 homeruns made up for that and batting over .700 . Call it fall ball but it's still softball and every pitcher we have faced has been dealing in the upper 60s . Last night st. Leo had a very good freshman close out their game . Anyway I'm a big fan of all the girls and a big supporter of our gator girls. Really you can say what you want as far as "i played here or 35 years ago I was a mif but the reality is most have not ever played at this level . Love the Gators and can't wait for UCF tonight!
Lizzy Bartlett broadcasted the first game from the FB Florida Gators Softball Fans page. Somehow I got an invite. She might do it again tonight.
I found this explanation of the new scholarship limits. It’s a little confusing and I am still trying to digest it. Understanding the New NCAA Scholarship Limits: What It Means for Your Recruiting Journey
