**The end is not near, for Billy Napier at Florida**

Well, I guess we just learned that what should be is not what will be. I hope they know what they are doing. Billy should have had the program about where it is in year two. A good coach might have done it year one. What can you do? Billy will never endear himself to the Gator faithful. He's too soft, too slow, stubborn, surrounds himself with mediocrity which I believe he silences anyway, and is a wholly boring in lacks creativity.

I certainly hope he and Stricklin continue to talk on a weekly basis.

 

You do realize they probably have to pay the $26 million to fire him right? Then they have to pay for a new staff and they still have to pay for all the players that are on our roster plus New. Firing a coach is Expensive

 

They are the second worst team in the SEC. They aren’t Samford, true. But it’s not a quality win

Also losing isn’t fun. Donors aren’t donating for the heck of it.

Either way I hope it works out for our sake. I can’t recall a coach with such little pedigree and reputation being able to truly turn it around.

The odds arent in Napiers favor but theres no concrete line that will unfold.

 

This year's recruiting class will show up on the field in a couple years so it is way worse for the future than it is for next year. We have a solid group of kids that will develop next year even better and along with a portal, we could have a good year next year. But it's kind of like FSU, I don't keep that pipeline rolling, it will catch up with you in the end.

 

I think you misunderstood. I don’t think they are doing this. I was arguing against this misconception.

Damn, that means I'm not even going to be excited about the upcoming season next August. What a letdown.
I've never seen a failing coach provided with more excuses than BN. At least with a new coach, there's the hope of a new beginning. If he gives up play calling then that might create some interest. But as has been evident the past three seasons, he has been and is a dismal failure. I guess BN's tenure is the definition of "a disciplined, stable approach that is focused on long-term, sustained success". Long term seems to be accurate. I'll still be cheering on the Gators but this statement indicates a serious commitment to mediocrity. Go Gators.

The time to fire Napier was last year. This year was never going to be a good year to truly evaluate Napier with the ridiculous schedule. Heck Spurrier and Meyer with some of their best teams would've still probably lost 2 games on this schedule.

That's why I think Napier should've been fired last year. By keeping Napier around for this year I just knew we were committing to 2 more years. They were never going to fire him after the 2024 season just due to the ridiculous schedule unless something off the field happened.

Whoever imagined Billy could finish 5-7 which is likely, and still retain his job? This is a dream for our rivals.
