LOL, I'd be happy to get paid to make that decision. I thought Napier was a good hire, I was dead wrong. I could be dead wrong about Cignetti. Sure I'll take the weight of swamp gas's ire if he were to actually be hired and fails, depending on how it is defined.

So, what is considered pass or fail next year if he was hired?

People wanting Cignetti at UF are just unhinged. He's not leaving a program after one season. No respectable coach is doing that.

To be fair some people don't want a respectable coach, they'll take Kiffin.

The operative word in that statement is respectable. There are some here that don’t consider that a qualifier.

Wow many others. I am not provocative. I really thought Desantis had a final say in Sasse being hired. Sasse bailed. Fuçhs is here. Been said in many a thread. If I’m wrong I apologize. If he did… am I wrong? I like my governor.

How could the governor have schemed any of this? I said I blame him for the mess. Y’all have way too much intelligence for me I guess.

Thanks for reminding me to not talk in here. I will just read like usual.

Well as each year passes it seems like a new coach has one less years than a new coach had prior. Not that its fair to any coach to be expected to catch lighting in a bottle bit alas this is the CFB world we live in now.

It's crazy how people are rationalizing this. As you said, people said we turned a corner after beating south carolina, playing mizzou close and then losing close ones to Arkansas and fsu. Then the off season comes and coach can't stop praising our "competitive depth " and improvement in multiple areas citing his best team yet before getting blown out at home to open the season and then laying another egg against aTm. Two programs with coaches in year 3 and year 1 of their regimes.

I still have a sliver of hope if he hires an OC and I'm not even as upset as many about his retention but the excuses and rationalizing are insane.

Well what is the expectation of BN then? And I will apply that to the potential replacement to be fair.

We weren't expected to because of the product he put on the field in year 3.

I mean i get where some of these posters are coming from, and understand that it sucks that we are not elite as we once were. But i think some seem to gloss over the fact that it's just as probable that CBN has a good season sooner as it is to allow our current talent and star QB be poached when we fire a CBN, and expect that coach to have us back near the top in 2 years or 3. There are more coaches who find stable success after a rebuild in the 3-5 year range than than those who find success in 2 years.

The bigger issue seems to be teams that find quick success it's seems they are finding it more difficult to sustain that success with the new transfer rules being driven by NIL aspirations.

Like it has been said no guarantees either way but I feel like there is some type of continuity and momentum being established that we've been waiting to see. And to be fair CBN said from his 1st interview, his detailed process will be slower than most want and will get some people upset. But he was upfront.

Bottom line is there will be at least as many or more candidates next year for a coach as there is this year. Not the best year to try and Guage real Interest with the 1st extended form of cfb playoffs.

Honestly, if cignetti can get his team.good enough to be at the top of the BIG10 , why would he give that up? Michigan, Penn st and OSU have made great careers for coaches by being the best of a weak conference.

Cignetti probably only has about 5 years left of coaching (that would make him 1 year shy of 70 years old. Why leave for perceived greener pastures

So the theory is that stricknine will not fire coach because it reflects negatively on him. Fuçhs won’t fire strick cause he’s a temp. Desantis approved sasse. Sasse left. Fuçhs is here. Won’t fire strick who won’t fire coach.
I blame desantis. That is all. Nothing politically senister. Didn’t see it as that difficult when I wrote it.
