Other schools are way ahead of us in terms of thinking outside the box to boost the NIL coffers. Like our facilities, UF is once again playing catch up.
Granted Warner is inexperienced but, it’s a bit early to judge how well he’s going to do the rest of the season. He might be a real find. I sure as heck am not judging him on his game against Georgia but I will say I thought the young man kept it together pretty well against them. Pretty gutsy performance under the circumstances. Let’s see how he looks this week against the #5 team in the country, on the road, who BTW is coming off a bye week. Gotta love this schedule. If Millen is still in the program, we have as good as situation as possible but if he’s not it’s not on Napier that all of a sudden we are thin at QB. He had to foresight and ability to go get him. If in the coaches minds Warner passed him in practice and earned the 3rd spot how can anyone question that decision? None of us were there and if we were what would make us better at making that call?
W…be of good cheer. Just kidding.luvuman. Hey. Almost every post I do, I have to go back and correct numerous things. Typing on a phone is even worse. Just keep adding your good thoughts, ok?
I'm not going to judge our QB room based on stars or a forced appearance against one of the best teams in the nation. Coach Napier has proven to be an exceptional judge of talent and a 4 star willing to sit behind Lagway could well be no better than what we have. It's also a fact that the coach has way less to do with recruiting than in the past.
I think he's saying we were late to the party on facilities and now we're late to the party again with regards to nil/portal. That's the way I read his statement anyway.
We were one of the last programs to remove the doilies from the tables and plastic from the couches. Foley still smells like mothballs though even though he isn't AD anymore.
Granted, Gator Collective was a mess in the beginning, but they are gone, and our NIL is very competitive now. Yes, we were late to the party re: facilities, but we fixed that. This has all been discussed ad nauseum for years. We aren't behind on NIL or facilities at this point.
Problem is that our athletic department was completely unprepared for what occurred in NIL and the portal almost from day one and the football program is still playing catch up to this day.
