I think you are onto something Kez!

We should blame Desantis because he appointed Sasse as prez, based on recommendations from the Board of Governors and the chancellor of the state university system, and Sasse clearly knew that our football team would lose when he took the job, and that our AD had hired a coach who didn't win, and then Sasse abruptly resigned before the 2024 football season, but he still should have known we would lose games, all of which of course Desantis should have known at the time which is bad for him, because since Sasse resigned knowing that we might have to fire our AD and coach, his resignation might cause delays in hiring their replacements.

    Did I get this right?

Folks, I come here to get away from all the political bashing. I believe there’s a form for that. Can we get back to bashing the head coach now?:p

My post was not intended to be political. I was just trying to point out how to stupid it is to blame the governor for what is going on in the athletic department.

But I agree with your post for other reasons.

This post is kept alive by a mod who cutely changes titles in order to stir the pot to generate more clicks so as to keep the ad revenue coming in.

    And we provide the content.

I mean if we're being fair than 1 coaching mistake hurt our chances to win, but the coaching definitely had a lot to do with the reason we even had a legitimate shot at winning a game NO ONE thought we could vs. A top10 team on the road in rocky top. Cant blame coaching for just coming up short in a really close game when by all accounts we weren't supposed to be in a really close game. Some thought we would be run out of the stadium.

So what is the reason other coaches lose? I mean we have no more undefeated teams in the SEC so why did they lose? Is their losses on the players because their coaches seldom make mistakes?

, I mean its a long game, rarely does one play call cost you the game. It could cost you the play, some yards, even pts etc. But had other play calls been different through out the game, or players executed better throughout the game than you may not be in a position where the whole game comes down to one right or wrong play call or decision.

There are many, many plays, game decisions, playcalls, referee influence, field/weather conditions that have taken place and could have been approached or executed differently to where the game isn't decided by one single decision or play calling.

I agree with you that there's been improvement in the team, it's just hard to give him all that much credit when there was a big coaching error and ultimately we didn't get the W.

We weren't expected to, he did what EVERY coach says their job is and that's to put the team in a position to win the game. That part he did. Not saying the call didn't hurt us but the rhetoric I'm hearing sounds as if he failed to accomplish something he was suppose to. It's like when we play good, it's like "oh we're back", and we get mad when they come up short. The reality is we were the big underdogs that game that took a top 10 team (who beat Bama the following week) to OT in their own house while losing our starting QB. We exceeded the expectations, and showed real growth. But we are still a team in the midst of improving and I think that gets lost among many with our anxiousness to return our winning days.

Sure sounds like you want us to celebrate moral victories. In year 3 we should be better than that.

And what coach would you bring in that would be a bonafide guaranteed winner in year 1 or 2? Because that would really be year 6 or whatever since we have been anything close to winning at the level we desire. And that was with me using the 2020 season with trask as the milestone. Some people think hitting reset on the coach and staff will actually make winning come sooner when in fact all we are doing is resetting the coaches timer, for us it just adds another 3 years or so before we win.

I've asked a few of these guys who they would nominate for head coach that would accept the job and I have never gotten one single answer

Well that certainly was a long response on a subject that has already been beaten to death but ok. Obviously no guarantees in hiring a HC,, just like there is no guarantee that this coaching staff ever has a winning season at UF.
Let's hope the Texas QB throws 3 picks so we have a shot to win this Sat.

Seems like a cheap shot. Similarly, maybe some of you guys could give us a guarantee on when Napier has a winning record then we could all rest easy.

The reality is no one on this board really knows who would/wouldn't accept the job or if Napier will ever have a winning record here. It's all speculation at this point.
