Timing is odd as well. Maybe he thought no one would notice because of all the election shit.

Presumably he wants people to notice, otherwise why come out with a statement?

Nope, not a shot at you at all. Just riffing off your post a little. I try and avoid potshots at others on message boards. Life's too short to get into keyboard wars! And they never go well. All good. Go Gators!

after 14 years on the firing coaches carousel and rebuild which gets us nowhere fast, i'm willing to try this approach. i wouldn't be surprised at all if 2025 we matured into a very good team. This letter may also help us to finish the year with a better record by boosting the players morale

Cheap enough for me, as long as someone else is cutting the check.

    ^That's how it's done, right?

I wouldn’t worry too much about salvaging a recruiting class. Players are allowed to transfer after losing their coach, so there will be plenty of opportunities to acquire talent in the offseason.

No. Napier's job was saved when our top two QBs went down. As others have mentioned, this letter is a necessary attempt to save the recruiting class. I'd add that SS is not wrong; the players have played their hearts out and the team has improved.

Ahhhh...you describe the prior Vandy model. However, they are investing to add and renovate their stadium and have bought a few players and made bowl eligibility. The SEC needs a bottom-dweller, however, and it looks like we are volunteering to take Vandy's spot.

The problem is not the firing of coaches the issue has been the hiring of new coaches...have we fired a coach that has gone somewhere else and crushed it that has made us regret the firing? You have to hire the right guy at UF and we unfortunately have not done that.

It doesn't matter. Did you see that little kid trying to play QB for the Gators? I mean, bless his heart but this season is effectively over.

Florida’s Athletic Director Scott Stricklin announced their plans to keep head football coach Billy Napier for the 2025 season on Thursday morning.

“Gator Nation, I wanted to let you know that Billy Napier will continue as head football coach of the Florida Gators,” Stricklin wrote in a letter to the fan base. “As we’ve seen these past several weeks, the young men on this team represent what it means to be a Gator. Their resolve, effort, and execution are evident in their performance and growth each week – building a foundation that promises greater success next season and beyond. UF’s commitment to excellence and a championship-caliber program is unwavering. In these times of change across college athletics, we are dedicated to a disciplined, stable approach that is focused on long-term, sustained success for Gator athletes, recruits and fans. I am confident that Billy will meet the challenges and opportunities ahead. We will work alongside him to support any changes needed to elevate Gator football. As college athletics evolve, UF is committed to embracing innovation and strategy, ensuring the Gators thrive in today’s competitive landscape. Gator Nation has remained strong, showing up game after game to stand with our team. This loyalty creates an incredible environment that inspires our players to compete with heart and determination. Now, I call on all of Gator Nation to continue standing behind Billy and his dedicated team while we work together to build a championship program.”

This just screams to me, “As long as they spend and support, there’s no real reason to make any change.”

Don't leave out the sports media - finebaum, 247, si, hail fla, etc - that have done everything they can do to have him fired. Why wait to report news when you can make stuff up to suit your own particular ends desired.

Does this mean that there is nobody out there they think is worth a shot? Why else make this call this early?
