Have to factor in that Trump is lying about everything. Remember - he had 4 years already. We saw what he did for the average worker; gave tons of $$ to corporations and those at the top, rode the existing economic trends, and juiced the economy with deficits that the middle class will pay off later. It's not master messaging versus poor messaging so much as it is; ignorant people willing to believe lies falling for a con the same con two different times!! So yeah, Trump's a great con man. The best ever, perhaps. And his marks are perfectly suited to him to (continue to be) exploited by him. As we continue to see happen.
Biased or not, Conway is right and you are wrong. History will show that he's right, IF we are allowed to have honest history recorded for posterity.
None of this explains how millions of people can vote for the most dishonest, despicable, corrupt person ever nominated for high office in the U.S. He has no redeeming character traits. From a highly respected, 4 star Marine General, who worked at his side for a year and a half. Don't just disagree. List one positive character trait that Trump has that doesn't insult or hurt someone.
You replied to him by saying you skip his posts... LOL!!! So gloriously hypocritical and witless. Just another post from the left. Great time to be an American.
There were a lot of terrible accusations against LBJ as well. If the media/social Media we have today was around then I think we might look at a lot of our leaders quite differently. This is not an excuse for Trump. He is garbage. But we have had lots of garbage presidents. The dems had a chance to stop this. Their voters, their base clearly don’t care enough to make a difference. Everyone knew what maga and the conservatives were going to do. Everyone knew how they would vote. Trump is still down several million popular votes from 2020.. a year he lost the race. But democrats are down far far more. Why? Why did your base let Trump take the White House. Why did they roll o er, not give a damn, and walk away?
Completely disagree on the VP pick as it wouldn’t have made a difference. It’s clear by now that whoever they picked would have been doomed given the short time she has to pitch herself to the American people and the fact that they were going to punish whoever the dem ticket was because of how the economy was perceived to be and her association with Biden being his VP. Walz was, by all accounts, highly popular amongst democratic voters as well as his legislation he helped pass as governor of Minnesota. The issue is that they hid him in the closet after the initial rally’s and never let his naturally charismatic character show for much of the race. By the time they finally let him out again, it was far too little too late. Any other ticket without Harris on it, with Walz as VP, given enough time to campaign, would have won, IMO.
They hid him because he was a walking gaffe machine. A knucklehead who lied all the time. Shapiro was far more presidential and would have done far far better. As for Kamala.. everyone knew who she was. They saw her front and center when she ran I. 2020. They heard her liberal ideas, they saw her debate, they knew who she was. They also had 3 1/2 years of her being the VP. She wasn’t an u known they had to introduce to the country. And that was the biggest issue. She wasn’t a terrible candidate with a terrible platform and worse messaging. She wasn’t condescending to what should have been her base, dismissive of anyone who questioned her and in many cases unprepared to answer questions. Is this truly the best the Dems had to offer? If so.. what happens in Four years? Praying for a miracle candidate?
If people cared about stuff like gaffes they wouldn’t have elected Trump or Vance, let’s be real. Vance was super socially awkward the entire campaign trying to relate to normal people anytime he went out in public and let’s not even start with Trump. It simply came down to the economy, Harris’ association with Biden who they blamed for the economy, and the fact that he waited way too late to drop out and they didn’t host a primary and allow the voters to choose. There were also lots of people who were pissed at her pertaining to the war in Gaza, which Shapiro would have been an awful choice for given his history. The VP didn’t matter at all, if it did, Trump would have never been elected because Vance was a disaster on the campaign trail. For the record, Whitmer was my first choice as soon as Biden dropped out.
Peter Thiel, the oligarch who owns/sponsors JD Vance has said several times that capitalism and democracy cannot coexist.
not if the dems don't get better leadership and focus on the best qualified candidate and not the best candidate with the proper race and sex. their messaging totally stinks too.
make no mistake, he won with a lot of latin and women support along with independents and blue collar dems in the blue wall states. dems could have won those groups with a better candidate and better messaging. not to mention that apparently 10 - 15M voters stayed home this time on the dem side. not sure if they thought the election was in the bag or just didn't like Harris enough to go vote
Same reaction you see when the losing team has been annihilated by their hated arch rival. Eventually the inner child recedes & the adult emerges.
I I didn't say America was in trouble. I said we've elected a despicable person as president. What the future holds depends on what he does.
Good to hear. I’m glad you’re not freaking out. Enjoy lower corp taxes, less regulations and hopefully a decrease in govt waste.
No, no, no, no...it's way better than that. Let me help... First, it was the hopium: -"She's gonna win!" -"Tim Walz is gonna swing men to the Dems!" -"Texas is in play!" -"She's within 4 points in Florida!" -"Dick and Liz Cheney endorsed her! Gamechanger!" -"Suburban women are gonna vote for her without their husbands' knowledge!" -"Selzer poll says she's up by 3 in Iowa!" -"Democrats are waiting to vote on election day instead of early so the results will be unassailable." (My personal favorite) Then, it was the copium: -"At least we won the governorship and other state races in NC." -"The most vulnerable judges due to age are the Conservative ones." -"Twenty million Democratic voters from 2020 didn't show up. If they would have, the results would be way different." And now, in less than 48 hours, as the OP demonstrates, they are already on to the seethe. At least if they keep posting we'll know they haven't been rounded up and taken to the reeducation camps as Whoopie and Rachel Maddow implied would happen under a Trump Presidency.
I listened to an NPR segment on this - how the popularity of authoritarianism & demagogues is a growing issue for democracies globally. The segment discussed how it correlates with the spread of social media and instant news and information are stove-piped by ideology. The US sticks out because we lead the free world combined with the extremism of trump.
