You should really get your screen fixed, it's causing you to extrapolate well beyond anything someone actually posted.
Muschamp and Mullen both got 4 years. They also had some equity built up to earn that 4th year. Muschamp won 11 games in 2012 and secured a top 5 class in 2013 despite finishing 4-8. Mullen went to 3 New Year’s 6 bowls before going 5-6 (6-7 overall which is the best that Billy has been able to do at UF) McElwain didn’t get more years because he lied about death threats. Billy has gotten the most resources and is easily our worst coach ever. It’s time for y’all to see the light.
It's a crap shoot with coaches. Put the money into the players, not the coaches. Scott Frost's replacement, Matt Rhule is 4-9 in his last 13 games (8 year $74M contract) Clay Helton's replacement, Lincoln Riley is 6-10 in his last 16 games (10 year $110M contract)
Am I not reading right? Nothing in that Stricklin letter says we are retaining Napier for 2025. All it says is we support him moving forward. what did I miss?
Billy wasn't going anywhere. UF does not have the infastructure in place at the top to make a coaching change. SS is not going to be allowed to lead the search for the next coach. The new pres will be in charge of what happens next. Also, the kids have improved as the year has gone on and they are playing their asses off for him.
These articles are based on the same letter that we all received. I don’t see anything about 2025 season.
Cignetti will be coaching in the SEC next year. If not UF, it will be against UF. Arky, Aub, or maybe UK, but he is too hot of a commodity to be ignored. Question is what will UF do?
I figured a beat writer might have a little more insight, even though it appears to be his comments that lead the article.
Where is Stoops going? Kentucky is the only team of those 3 on our schedule and we beat them like a drum this year.
I guess you didn't read my post very closely. I said I'M NOT ENDORSING THIS but I can see SS's side. About the UT game- I was so disgusted with the coaching... But at the same time after the TAMU debacle did you anticipate taking UT to OT? I didn't.
Stricklin might as well order two Mayflower moving vans for December 15, 2025. One for Napier and one for himself. I was very optimistic that Napier could turn the football program around when he was hired. But two seasons and the Miami game convinced me otherwise. The TAM and TN games sealed the deal for me. Yeah, I recognize the defense has gotten better, but that was a result of the players going to Napier halfway through his 3rd season to ask/insist that the “system” be simplified. The Gators are entering a gauntlet that has the potential to crush them, especially if Lagway is limited or not available. Recruiting was decimated by the losing streak at the end of last season and that decay has continued. I don’t have confidence that Napier can salvage it, even with the Stricklin grace period. I’ve been a Gator since 1965 and had season tickets for 52 years. I’ve been through the ups and downs and I know enough about the game to be able to assess the viability of a HC. Unfortunately for Gator fans, alumni and others, Napier won’t get it done. Stricklin’s decision only delays the inevitable.
