Similar to 2016, the primary defense of Trump seems to be “he didn’t really mean what he says”. Trump got nothing done in term 1.

His mass deportation plan and “across the board tariffs” are economically illiterate ideas. To what extent is unknowable based on what levels any of this occurs. Could range from “kinda bad” slight drag on economy to economic catastrophe. Hence the “check back in 12-24 months”.

I’d say the mass deportation idea has potential for violence and death and mistakes being made, so there’s more than just the economic concerns as far as what goes wrong.

Trump is anything but conservative. What did Reagan have to say about immigrants and tariffs?

And what will raising tariffs and mass deportations do to our economy? If Trump is successful at enacting these policies, what happens when there are 8 million less laborers in our economy, including half of the people who work in agriculture?

Like it was stated, let's see where we are in 18 - 24 months.

I hope we don’t do a mass deportation.
Like to get some riff raff out though.
Not sure how to fix the problem Biden and the camel created at the open border.

George should do what I am doing and just embrace Trumpism. I expect to make out well over the working class over the next 4years and they can kiss my ass. George has money too. He should just roll around in it over the next 4 years.

Getting rid of immigrants with a felony is not controversial. Deporting productive members of society who hold a job that would likely go otherwise unfilled? Bad for everyone. Yet Trump and Miller have avowed to get rid of every "illegal."

As for the border, when has it ever been secured in our history? How can Biden be blamed for a problem that's generations old?

Biden opened the gate and they flooded in.
Trump won’t be able to remove all illegals.
    Let’s see what happens.

Let’s repeal Obamacare. I am 100% for that. The working class has spoken.

I think what is seen in that post from River is a TDS driven reaction to Kam’s loss. This is a difficult time for progressives.

I don’t think anyone disputes a lot of people are feeling left behind and pissed off. The question is why? And what is the Republican Party doing to help them, other than continually animate their rage? Nothing really. It’s especially ironic considering Republicans were big into union busting, free trade, and offshoring for decades which is what hollowed out those towns. But now these jokers want to pretend it’s all Clinton and Soros or some shit? I remember those issues from the 90’s, and dems would usually want to at least throw money in for retraining displaced workers. GOP was usually like ‘lol no. Pull yourselves up by the bootstraps’.

None of this helps these people who feel “betrayed” for whatever reason. GOP policy even now often make these issues worse when they chisel away at whatever lifelines they have with healthcare, drug rehab, school lunches etc.

    The debate is over.
    It was decisive.
The rage and frustration is entertainment for all to see.
    And we appreciate you coming.

Rephrasing what I previously stated, to the majority of American voters the tangible pain of higher prices far outweighed the abstract threat of the loss of Democratic principles.

This. The Trumpy ignorami are going to be telling us it's the greatest economy ever in about 3-4 months. As if Trump had anything to do with it.

Then he'll cut top and corporate tax rates again, jack up deficit spending, leave office and the smart MAGA voters won't know enough to realize what happened, when to anyone economically literate it will be like reading a 1st grade text.

The floodgates started opening in 2019. Would have kept on flowing had it not been for COVID.

Conspicuous is your failure to assert his observations about Trump's essential character are inaccurate.

Having said that, I'm going to be patient and see if Trump follows our laws and upholds the Constitution. I don't care about policies. I'll agree with some and disagree with others. That's the nature of our democracy.
