Wait, are you telling me that fan message boards don't reflect the greater reality? Who knew??? (Sarcasm intended). These boards are typically an echo chamber of like-minded people. Just like greater social media in general. These boards are no more a reflection of broader gator nation than Twitter/X is of broader society. I enjoy coming here to talk about the game and get info in recruiting and such, but that's about it. I appreciate the knowledge and insight I glean from those who know the intricacies of the game, but I don't pay much mind to the anger and frustration (though I know I've gotten caught up and expressed same from time to time). Step outside the bubble every now and then. Breathe and relax. Now, let's cheer on the Gators we all love and stop pulling our hair out over things we can't control. I've already lost most of mine due to my kids. I don't need to lose the rest over a football coach....
Napier has been around football either as a player or a coach for at least thirty years at this point but any day now he is going to turn the corner and be something besides what he is.
So..essentially Strickland has been put out on the edge to be canned after another losing season to temporarily quash all the energy that someone has to pay for the all the losing seasons...
Doing the same thing over and over would be hiring and firing the football coach every 3 years. Letting one have a 4th year is a change.
Why would he? He just got done saying winning doesn’t matter, it’s how you play the game that counts.
Only McElwain didn’t get a fourth season. Unless you want to go 20 years back to Zook and argue he should have gotten a fourth season.
“Billy Napier will remain head coach of Florida's football team for the 2025 season, athletic director Scott Stricklin announced Thursday.”
Whereas I was going to say completely unserious football program, perhaps I should say completely unserious fan base ?
I’m sorry I had something crazy stuck on my screen. It looked like you argued that Napier’s 18th loss in three years, seventh loss to a rival (not including Miami), and third to Georgia was somehow evidence of the need to retain him. Would you care to clarify?
