If everything was so amazing, why did America kick the libbies out with a swift kick in the fahina/nards? …IN A Deluge of diverse voters!!
Again why I'm not sure social media and democracy can coexist. People are too stupid to handle it and will find whatever they want to believe.
Deportations, closing borders, tariffs can actually have neg impacts pretty fast since it literally stops economic activity in it’s tracks. Depends more on the scale and scope I would think. Small levels would have small overall impacts (more localized). Trumps fevered dream would be economic devastation. Other things can be a slower burn. Banking deregulation usually gives a nice sugar high for awhile, it inflates a banking bubble every damn time, then when banks start failing it’s “how could this possibly happen?”. (Must be that dastardly George Soros again)!
Trump did a great job convincing the Obama economy Trump inherited was all Trump's accomplishment. And the post COVID shitshow Trump gave to Biden was all Biden/Harris' fault. When the economy falters again, because of the Trumpster Fire that is coming, the electorate will hopefully wake up and realize just what a con man Trump truly is. And there will big, blue waves coming...assuming Trump doesn't stop the elections from happening.
I find this comment from a Trump voter interviewed by WSJ most telling involving inflation. He is mad that international beef producers are keeping prices low but hopeful that Trump will lower inflation...I guess just not for beef?
Just watching the transitions will tell you everything you need to know. Trump pitched a fit, tried to steal the election, attempted a coup, and refused to attend Biden's inauguration. He has zero respect for democracy. Everyone knows that. None of that will happen with Biden/Harris because they respect democracy.
That is exactly why protectionism fails. Pretty standard cognitive dissonance from that guy as well as entitlement mentality. I want more money for selling MY product, but everything else should come down. Sorry bub, that’s not how that plays out.
There are a lot of grievances expressed on the fringes that I don't see going away regardless of who's in charge. They are ideologues that are near impossible to reason with. I think where the future opportunity lies is for the non-Trump block to pay attention to what's happening in between. I think the appeal for a lot of people in the general MAGA message is for a time when the blue collar/non-college educated work had it better from an economic perspective. I don't think most of them pine for racism, etc. They'd like to get out of the struggle that started when good middle class jobs started to disappear. The Democrats and really the old version of GOP'ers have ignored that group, despite what they may say. Regardless if you think Trump is the answer, he's obviously connected with that group of folks who make up a lot of the population. Clinton was able to do the same. The non-Trumpers can write that off or take a good look in the mirror and figure out a message outside one that appeals to upper class & DEI true believers.
We did do it to ourselves. But that is democracy. I've been baffled for eight years by the not just support but pure allegiance to a man who seems like the worst of us personified. But there it is. Voters have spoken and we move forward.
A significant number of Americans don't agree with the mindless, dangerous dogma of progressivism. I've done nothing to anyone .... but fight that abhorrent doctrine.
That’s weak as hell. I’ve read a lot of hyperbolic garbage. All you’re saying is something bad could happen. Weak as hell.
You really believe this? You’re a grown ass man I assume. I can’t imagine you really feel like America is in trouble because they voted for a quasi Conservative Party. Give me a break on the excessive exaggeration.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/06/opinion/trump-elites-working-class.html "The Democratic Party has one job: to combat inequality. Here was a great chasm of inequality right before their noses and somehow many Democrats didn’t see it. Many on the left focused on racial inequality, gender inequality and L.G.B.T.Q. inequality. I guess it’s hard to focus on class inequality when you went to a college with a multibillion-dollar endowment and do environmental greenwashing and diversity seminars for a major corporation. Donald Trump is a monstrous narcissist, but there’s something off about an educated class that looks in the mirror of society and sees only itself."
