Every American knew or should have known. The man elected president last night is a depraved and brazen pathological liar, a shameless con man, a sociopathic criminal, a man who has no moral or social conscience, empathy, or remorse. He has no respect for the Constitution and laws he will swear to uphold, and on top of all that, he exhibits emotional and cognitive deficiencies that seem to be intensifying, and that will only make his turpitude worse. He represents everything we should aspire not to be, and everything we should teach our children not to emulate. The only hope is that he’s utterly incompetent, and even that is a double-edged sword, because his incompetence often can do as much as harm as his malevolence. His government will be filled with corrupt grifters, spiteful maniacs, and morally bankrupt sycophants, who will follow in his example and carry his directives out, because that’s who they are and want to be. George Conway is certainly unbiased. I don’t even need to read his writings any more to know what he will say. It is very much akin to Gator Jo’s posts; you don’t even have to read them anymore and you will still know what he said.
The Democratic Party did this to America. They pushed Biden out, Handpicked Harris who didn’t do great when she ran the first time and was picked for VP due to being a woman of color( Bidens words not mine)… and was an abject failure as a VP. Democrats had a terrible platform, awful Messaging and chose a loser for a VO running mate. They should have chosen Josh Shapiro and built around him. The whining and crying from the left is hypocritical. Had they done their work( democratic leadership) this could have been avoided. Instead they took the easy path. Put a woman of color up there and insult black men hoping they will be guilted into voting for her. They mate identity politics. They leaned in abortion laws when every poll in America had the economy and the boarder as the two main issues people cared about This is on the lazy incompetent democratic leadership.

Nah, it's actually social media. Our attention spans - even those who are aware of it - are shrinking by the day. People don't care about politics and they don't pay attention. The people on this board represent, tops, 10% of the population and a large part of them only get information from a single stream. If MAGA thinks this is some mandate, they'd better think again. Or, at the very least, produce major reductions in inflation, increases in wages, etc. or these same people will turn on their asses so quick their heads will spin. This is where we're at. Yeah, I'm not sure that mass social media and democracy can coexist. I don't see any other choice but to try to have them coexist because a democracy that controls speech isn't really a democracy, or won't be for long. But people are just too stupid to handle social media and a stupid ignorant populace leads to someone like Trump being president.

Maybe some will. But a lot of them will see that Trump has inflation at 2.3% and unemployment at 4.1% and say that this is the most amazing economy in the history of the world. We saw this when Trump's economy was no better than Obama's. Economy went from horrible to awesome over night.
To the OP, America had a lot of info being pumped by Russia and amplified by Elon. They succumbed to it but the mistrust and conspiracy are not of strictly American origin. Putin said he would undermine US faith in elections, judges, and media after Hillary as SOS said his election was rigged or he wouldn't have won and damned if he didn't do it all these years later
